“I am very surprised that they didn’t think this through when they abandoned the climate targets last Thursday. And even more surprised that the Greens didn’t immediately leave the government”.
Former Scottish first minister, Lord McConnell, says it now “sounds like the deal is on” between Humza Yousaf and the Alba Party.

Scottish' Labour's legacy: The remaining 75 PFI / PPP projects cost Scotland 1.4b in 2022/23. And in 2023/24 a further 1.46b. This is a big reason Glasgow and other cities are in such financial trouble - desperately trying to save money left, right, and centre. Yep, we're still paying for it.

LABOUR’S PFI (Private Finance Initiative) legacy was clear for all to see when schools started to crumble and fall down in Edinburgh recently. Despite the poor build quality of these schools, Edinburgh Council is paying out about £1.5 million per month to use these premises. As mentioned in this, Yousuf said Ash Reagan was no great loss when she headed out the door for Alba. I imagine Reagan is walking round today with a big grin on her face, thinking "Revenge is a dish best eaten cold". What will she do? 1-Vote down Yusuf then the SNP in the two confidence votes (after all, she's an opposition MSP) 2-Have Yusuf and the SNP by the short and curlies till the 2026 election. Either way, an enjoyable choice for Reagan, and I'm sure she'll be smiling whatever way she votes😊🙃😊

@@user-nf4ie8pv2o McConnell only lost 4 MSPs in the 2007 election: far more to do with SNP popularity than Labour unpopularity. If you want to look at MPs (no idea why: Blair and Brown were in charge of Labour for the Westminster parliament) then in 2010 Labour lost 0 seats in Scotland: only in 2005 did they lose 4. It could be that Scotland is in for interesting times. Since the Scottish Parliament was created in 1999, there have been either two-party coalition governments or a one-party minority government. If, as seems possible, there is a general election for the Scottish Parliament this year, it seems unlikely that any two parties can, between them, for a majority government other than a Labour-SNP government. We can rule out any possibility of a Labour-SNP government. In view of the imminence of a general election, it seems likely that no party will join a coalition government that includes the Conservatives. That leaves only one other possibility: a Labour/Green/ Lib Dem coalition government. Both Labour and the Lib Dems agree with the Greens on climate change and gender politics so such a coalition could be possible.

I don’t think no one from England or I want to go to Scotland at the minute. It sounds like you’re going to like a Russian state or some sort of like Chinese state. There’s like you gotta be careful what you’re saying up there because you might get my phone off and say he said this can you be arrested? Is that the tourist can be arrested as well for that law? What’s been passed? I just wanna know about that. Are you allowed to say what you want? If you’re a tourist going up there? I mean you can talk about things without getting arrested you know or what is one of your people in the next room you’re talking to your Mrs and they reported you and said no, he was saying such a touch with that person be arrested by the Scottish police.

To answer your question ....No. You can only be arrested for stirring up hatred. The Hate Crime Bill only consolidates existing laws with the addition of age to the groups protected. They are similar to the laws in England.

I'm more surprised that failed First Minister, Jack McConnell, is even still opining on politics but of course he has years of experience claiming his House of Lords expenses.

@@georgeiii2998 Can you supply the names of any member of the SNP who has sat in the House of Lords ? Can you tell us who would put Ian Blackford's name forward ? Do you think Ian Blackford needs to claim £300 a day like those in the House of Lords like so many failed Labour & Tory politicians & those who have made donations to their parties. Have you read the last estimates for upgrading the Houses of Parliament which were made before the recent rise in inflation ? Tell us which party you would prefer to be running the UK before you opine on Scottish politics ?

@@hashburystumble8808 SNP members, as you well know, do not sit in the House of Lords but, as I'm also sure you know, Blackford has demanded the SNP reconsider this as he just can't wait to get him ample behind on the red benches. "Before you opine on Scottish politics". Ha. I'm Scottish. Can't I comment on my country's politics? Or are screaming nationalists the only "real Scots" in your book?

@@georgeiii2998 No. You are entitled as anyone resident in Scotland. Unfortunately you are now in a minority otherwise your favoured party would be open to a referendum. Of course unionists seem reticent to say which party they would prefer running the Scottish Government rather than alienating the other part of Better Together or is that Scotland in Union ? Are you a blue Tory or a red Tory ?
@georgeiii2998
@georgeiii2998 16 күн бұрын
@@hashburystumble8808 Ah yes, the "blue Tory or red Tory" question. Of course, anyone who sees the damage that would be done to Scotland if it left the fifth largest economy suddenly is automatically a conservative. I want a Labour government in Westminster and Holyrood, one which strengthens the UK and its constituent nations, putting high tax thresholds on those who can afford it, increasing public expenditure, nationalising rail and water, increasing attainment, funding education... fairly traditional left-wing views. Of course, might not be enough for some. After all, I think that an economy with no set currency (we won't be getting either the pound or euro) with the main selling point being oil in an increasingly green world isn't anything for an independent country to be built on, and certainly doesn't outdo what we get from London or will improve quality of life in Scotland in any measure whatsoever... but there you go.
