In Singapore, 30 charges against an individual can be reduced to 5 through various legal mechanisms. Plea bargaining allows defendants to plead guilty to fewer charges in exchange for lighter sentences. Charges may also be consolidated if they stem from the same incident, while judicial discretion can lead to the dismissal of charges lacking sufficient evidence. Prosecutors regularly assess the strength of their cases and may drop unsupported charges. I guess imo, intention is absolutely important, and with the aforementioned, I do not think it was his intention. However, it is what it is. I mean, he clearly has the ability to pay for it himself, given he paid back 380K in the end in an instant. But rule is rule, right?
