There's more than one person to blame but like a coach is ultimately responsible for his teams performance, Larry Scott was/is ultimately responsible for what happened to the Pac. Shame on him.

Why does it feel like we're going back to a bcs type format? Superconferences with playoff access. Teams like BSU and SDSU will as usual, be on the outside looking in. I can see super-conferences using up all 12 teams in the new playoff format.

As of right now I'm of the opinion that the NIL needs to be capped. Idk what that cap should be, it could be $1M or maybe $5M but if it's capped then teams will be on an even playing field again and there'll be less poaching because if someone's getting the max cap at one school then another university can't offer that student more.

Great conversation. No one has captured and explained the declining state of CFB in the west, while also celebrating the handful of highlights as Brock. He's been great to listen to over the last several years. I've been saying for a year the conference should breakup and put the schools into conferences that care about football so they get peer pressure to focus on it. It's just unfortunate for OSU and WSU being left out.

As for the transfer portal, a university should get a developmental compensation for losing a player of a program.

you are crazy if you think that a minor league of the NFL would produce the revenue that college teams bring in, and then there is the issue that 95% of kids playing college football would never be involved in a minor league football program...

Yeah, college football is in a really weird place right now. It's crazy to think how the TV networks in many ways own college football and because of that now university athletics and conferences.

BSU fan here. Coach Pete owned the town (and last I heard, he still hasn’t sold his house in Boise). I understand the desire of coaches to keep climbing the ladder, but what are you climbing into? On some level, it’s a siren song - you can’t resist it but one way or another your ship ends up smashed on the figurative rocks. Coach Pete walked away from what was his dream job at UW; Bryan Harsin got fired from Auburn (and he moved back to Boise, right back into the house he didn’t sell when he left, with his $15M buyout- talk about landing on your feet). It would be great to see Coach Pete back in Boise as an exec advisor or some other “grey beard” role.

As a Boise State fan I can honestly say that Chris Peterson was, is and always will be the best coach, leader and motivator ever. And, though I have never met him, I believe he is the epitome of what it means to be a great man. The only thing he could do that would further impress me would be to return to the Boise State football program ala Dirk Koetter!

The difference between college football and the NFL is that the NFL has a CBA with the labor, tampering rules, enforceable contracts, a salary cap, and a commissioner to enforce these rules. College football is suffering because it has none of these.
@killbaal4149
@killbaal4149 Жыл бұрын
Exactly right! The super conference needs a CBA to protect both entities. The players need to get paid and the institutions need expanded scholarship limits due to the more intense schedules they will be facing. I’m really looking forward to it.

Div 1 Football has been the "minors" for the NFL for a long time.. (esp the upper tier)... time to get on with it./ Brock has to look in the mirror a bit.. he has argued against any NIL and such in the past.. the "they're getting a scholarship, let'em eat cake".. has been the mantra.. maybe calling college games has changed that..

I think the travel issue for non revenue sports should be a simple fix. No one, including the fans and media partners give a hoot how many times PSU plays USC in say baseball, softball, tennis, etc,, why because no one watches those sports except for a small number of die hards. I played D2 baseball and love the game, but really no one cares if Ohio State plays USC in baseball anywhere near as close as they do in football. So why not set up the B10 baseball schedule in pods where they all play themselves, limit the travel and then have a conference tourney at the end. Maybe USC travels east once a year and it rotates between what schools they will play, but it is 100% not needed that Washington go to Rutgers every year to play a non revenue sport. Besides they already travel a lot. USC is playing a 3 game series in Auburn this year, thats over 2100 miles to play 3 games. Yale of all schools traveled to Seattle in women's soccer this year to play 1 game, Houston did as well. Oregon's softball team traveled to Puerto Vallarta Mexico for a series against several other schools including Wisconsin and MD. That's over 2300 miles from Eugene and 2200+ from Madison and 2600 miles from College Park,, no problem, they also went to playoff series in Arkansas, the year before they traveled over 2000 miles to Waco as well as nearly 3000 miles for a series in Chapel Hill, NC, ie they already travel a ton by choice,

Oregon is a much different program than in the past. It’s night and day from the mid 90’s and earlier on investment, recruiting, facilities, media coverage, and results. That said, the Big 10 will be a step up. Not many “gimmies” in that conference.

Because you hand out bags of money to get players now and have been like blama way before everyone looked the other way. Without Uncle Filbert's money, you would still be on the outside looking in!! Fact. Plus, your admission standards are weak for football, like almost the whole SUC. It will be fun to see them play the big boys week in and week out in November! It's going to be fun!! Go B1G or go home!

@@curtismartin2866 I never thought Jimmy would be good, as he didn’t pay his dues, and he also seemed really cocky to me. He was a good recruiter and a decent position coach, and UW kept promoting him to keep his recruiting chops in house. Now, he ended up being a brilliant placeholder, which gave Deboer a chance to prove himself as an FBS HC, and be a top notch candidate.

College football is finally ruined. The start of the BCS era 25 years ago was the beginning of the end. It all started with the bowl system being watered down. Now traditional conferences are being disassembled and sold for parts. College football is a mere shell of its former self.

let me rephrase a previous post: I would love to see Chris Peterson lead Boise State's recruiting. Coach Peterson could find players who were OKG (our kind of guy). That, more than anything, is what made Boise State so special when he coached them. I am a BSU football fan in Indiana who is willing to travel to see them play; BSU has a national following, and that is due to Chris Peterson.
