Former WGN-TV icon Merri Dee dies at 85

I grew up watching these journalist: Merri Dee, Lester Holt, Tamron Hall, Bill Curtis, and the late Allison Payne; God rest her soul. And I can say that ALL of them have aged GRACEFULLY! I met her about 40❤ years ago at the regal theater on east 79th in Chicago. She greeted me in the most personable pleasant manner. She just appeared as a ray of sunshine. I was so excited and will always cherish that day.❤

Sorry to hear of her passing. In a way, her voice was the soundtrack of my childhood. I can still hear her lovely, graceful voice on the end of cartoon credits that aired on WGN in the 80s. "Stay tuned for the Traaaaaansformers." Even though I was only 4 years old at the time (it had to be 1979 or 1980), I can remember watching that scary 60 Minutes story with my parents years ago. I had a lot of respect for her. Rest in peace, Merri.♥
