We are the Data Dudes. 2 data enthusiasts who make timeline and time-series videos.
In this video we have made a time-lapse review of every single Formula 1 podium won by drivers from GP 1 - BRITAIN 1950 until GP 1079 - ABU DHABI 2022 (the most recent GP at the time of creation).
You can see a breakdown of 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and also the number total podiums each driver has achieved as a percentage of their total race participation.

​@@pitlaneF1. Additionally he raced in an Era where there were significantly fewer races each year. Hop in a dominant car and podium for 6/9 races compared to now where drivers would have to win 15/22 races (or 16/24 for next year) and you can see why it would be tough to maintain that ratio. Not to take away from him actually doing it, it's just a demonstration of dominance to consistently be a podium finisher.

@@pitlaneF1. his car was the fastest because he was the best driver and all teams wanted him as a driver so he could drive the best car every year. Long term contracts were not a thing in the 50s and Fangio took advantage of that.

I thought of a good one. Number 2 drivers that finished ahead of their teammates. But it would be difficult because some times it's hard to tell like Kimi and Montoya, Prost and Senna, Alonso and Hamilton. Maybe just Ferrari drivers only, it's usually easy to tell with Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton has more 3rd place finishes than most have wins except: - Schumacher - Vettel - Prost - Senna - Verstappen

Fangio's greatness can be seen through the percentage on this list... no other driver even came close, with the exceptions of Schumacher before his return, and Hamilton who can still get closer if the next few seasons go his way. (Verstappen might, but he's way down though he's got a lot more time ahead of him, so who knows.)

Juan Manuel Fangio won the World Drivers' Championship five times with Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Mercedes and Ferrari. They were the best teams, the fastest and most reliable cars. Plus in Fangio's time, half the field did not finish. Yes he was a great driver, but he swapped teams to ensure he had the best car to win.

Fangio’s podium percentage is truly incredible but Michael Schumacher’s 2002 season of a 100% podium finishes in a single season is even more special, true legends like Schumacher and Fangio don’t get the recognition they truly deserve by the pundits nowadays because they are too busy kissing Hamilton’s arse

Well, he is kinda right. Stats are stats but they often don’t tell the full story. There are way more races driven nowadays, so thinking Ham is the best driver because of his most podiums and most wins records is not really thought trough. Dont get me wrong, he is a outstanding driver, but far from the best.

By all metrics Lewis Hamilton is the GOAT / has become the GOAT - together with Merc. Impressive how good Alain Prost actually was, his podiums speaks for himself. Considering the fact that they raced much less races per year and dominance was super hard to achieve. Great driver indeed.

At 80 podiums Lewis Hamilton, Alain Prost, Fernando Alonso, and Kimi Raikkonen had fewer GP WINS than Ayrton Senna ..only Schumacher had the same exact wins as Ayrton at 80 podiums. Proves Ayrton Senna was the GREATEST driver ever.

Then you would be completely wrong! He had all the skills necessary to win the championship But he never did it But he was always in the mix since the mid 70's till his retirement during 82 Drove for the teams like Brabham, Ferrari, Lotus, Williams...

Who cares your only as good as for last race. You could have 1,000 podiums once you stop making the top 3 you become worthless to the team. Plus comparing finishes is rediculous now that there are twice as many races per season than in the past.
