so, in long beach Hateley vs Minowa - How is Hately re-inciating worst than Minowa parking the car on the 1st OZ? - in the 2024 FD Judging Reg 4.1.1 both drivers failed to follow the line/angle but Minowa also did not followed the Momentum Map bc of the extreme angle, but he still got the win

@@veloso98 Ok, so for that one, we should remember that coming into Long Beach, we had that in order to justify a OMT, the leads need to be equivalent of an 85 or higher. We have since adjusted that going into ATL to something that not as strict and allows for judges to call a OMT whenever they want if it is undecidable, but also should generally be done for good to excellent battles, not battles with who made the most of worst mistakes and it's so hard to quantify, you just get stuck because it feels crazy to let either driver move on. The general idea behind the rule is the same, but doesn't handicap the judges because neither of those runs are an 85. This rule was made particularly for PROSPEC, but it applies to PRO from time to time to time. Ok, so with that on board, let's go back to the run. Hateley does his mistake (probably a zero under old rules on initiation because he straightens and reinitiates), Minowa does his mistake (let's say it was an Incomplete under old rules, but I'm not sure) At the very least it is unchaseable should the chase driver have been doing the right thing, but Minowa appears to not have straightened to the old standard, meanwhile the reason why it becomes harder to chase for Hateley is because he is super low angle from initiaton and because of that on a way tighter line than Minowa. He is nowhere near the wall, whereas Minowa is at the wall, he just has too much angle). Now let's look at where the mistake were made. Hateley's is right at initation, Minowa is on the right line and is able to make a good adjustment and stay in the fight. Minowa's mistake happens at OZ1, which is further down the course, so he not only completes his lead further down the course, he also better adapts to Andy's mistake. Andy makes his big mistake first, so he has completed less track than Minowa and on that alone you can say he has the better of the leads because he completed more track than Hateley before their notable mistakes while it would have been difficult to chase, it is so because Hateley is not filling the chase driver responsibilities and goals. Ok, now you might say, but Minowa's run was too unchaseable for Andy to put up a fight and what is important there is that even though unchaseable and replace with other terms, it still applies in principle because of the rule of cause and effect to however the lead affects the chase. That said, in order for that to apply in practice, the lead driver needs not only to be in proximity, but also filling the chase driver goals of mimicking and being on the right line. Andy is within proximity, but is almost straight and on a fast closing rate to Minowa on the chase, so him not doing the right thing and mimicking the lead, caused him to put himself in a compromising position that should have been. That might not be word for word from the judges, but that is what I remember.
@veloso98
@veloso98 Ай бұрын
@@formuladrift i dont agree. Judging reg 4.2 " the lead driver’s run must be considered chaseable". Hateley is not a incomplete for me bc Minowa was able to stay in drift and ajust like judging reg 4.0.~6 ("if a lead driver makes a mistake and that mistake is deemed possible for the chase to also make an adjustment or compensate") ask him to do and he did not Judging reg 4.3 "Stopping Drifting" "Two or more seconds". Minowa mistake is impossible to stay in drift. Hateley was a bit back in the initiation giving him time to react if he could.
@formuladrift
@formuladrift Ай бұрын
@@veloso98 Ya, I think that is totally fair. I need to double check to make sure what I wrote is how they judged it. I am just going off memory, but I do remember emphasis on, if Hateley was in fact doing his job, we would have been able to see the real effect of Minowa's mistake but because Andy's chase was so out of wack with the responsibilities, of course that's going to happen. It's also possible that they judged the leads to the point of the incompletes or mistakes, so to speak and Minowa completed more of the course, but I need to ask to be sure. Let me see if I can get ahold of anyone because they vote all the same. I want to make sure I give you the right information.

@@formuladrift why are you even responding to comments anymore. it was a bad judge call, you know it was and no amount of cope in the form of "i tHInK iT WaS IncOmPleTe" will cover for it. regardless of what the rules were changed to there was a clear mistake and its up to the judges to put their big boy pants on and make the correct decision for the sport. in no reality do you think that field didnt cause the incomplete and saying "well adam should have just restarted the run after being spun" or "well adam should have continued and spun out in front of a driver who clearly had the intention of causing a fault after completely screwing up their chase" do you think that should have been the result. you can lie to save face but its just making you look like clowns
@formuladrift
@formuladrift Ай бұрын
@@Akina_TTV No, it's just that he clearly looked like he shut it down intentionally or not as part of the contact and sure enough he did, which agree or not on that rule which helps us eliminate flops, he admitted it, so what it actually does is prove the judges intuitions right. So you can hate that rule and get rid of it and then welcome to flopville or you can ask something simple of drivers, if made contact with, stay on the gas and try to drive and finish out the run so we can see the natural effect of any contact. So that might be the difference between you and I, I can see when a rule has been applied consistently and then the judges were proved right, whether you or I like the rule or not and I can also say there are runs where I would have voted differently and I can analyze and breakdown why and I can tell the judges why, but I don't freakout and call them idiots because I know they are just regular humans beings who really believe what they believe and are good people with an incredibly tough job.

So I see in the rules it says "different for each track" for how many tires allowed off track. What were the rules for this one? bc in the very first battle of Deane vs Hughes, it looked like both back tires from Deane left the track during his chase run. Although we weren't shown any better angles of it in this video
@formuladrift
@formuladrift Ай бұрын
For this one it was based on location and severity and the reason for that is because we could have done 3 or 4, but the keyhole has the triangle area on exit that gets cut a lot and it doesn't appear to be super bad when drivers do it and often times, there is a split second where 3 and often 4 tires go off because of the way the track is designed and it is barely noticeable to the regular viewer. That means the driver could have crushed his lead, crushed his chase, except for .00034 seconds he just barely drops that third or fourth exiting the keyhole and he would have to get a technical Incomplete. So for this track, we left the hard number of tires alone so we didn't have to do 45 replays trying to see the 4th tire through the smoke. BUT, whenever a mistake like that is made or any other mistake, a judge can treat that mistake as a near zero, which means all the other driver would to do is not do something greater than that, like spin or go 4 off and fly into a wall, so the idea behind that is that the judges can weight the severity of the visual aspect of that mistake against the others without having their hands tied and the result is likely to be the same unless the other driver actually Incompletes by spin or by stopping, etc. For reference, last year, three tires off is an incomplete, full stop. For this track, the tires off was going to be based on the severity of the tires going off, the length of time and the location of the track, so the keyhole might be treated differently than if they driver went into the kitty litter or into the exit wall. Does that help?

the drivers and committee need to have more integrity to the sport and the buisness for FormulaD. ive noticed how drivers can hate each other because of rules. example: "denofa" blowing up because the rules say so. so he blows up into the face of the other opponent. have ingerity for the sport you love. need to have honest sportsmanship. follow the rules, be honest to yourself, honest to the sport you love and dont let the rules determine how your drift day is going to turn out. just because you dont like what the rules said. have integrity and be honest. protect the field and help FormulaD grow with how drivers behave and act. show influence for the next future drivers so FormulaD will be forever.
