interesting to see how the last guy managed to win the race. he was much smoother than the other ones, less noisy. His slightly angled approach at the very end made all the difference. when I saw the first few I thought it would be impossible to make. Nice to have all those volcanoes around makes loose soil with limited grip.

Yes, it's all about different approach and different lines to take. They can look at the tracks in the morning and choose their lines. But it can change because the track change after a few cars sometimes :)

great video showcasing the thrill of offroad racing in Iceland! i can't help but feel though that the tracks are getting a bit too extreme for casual fans. what do you guys think? sometimes less is more, right?

Actually drivers love when the tracks are extreme. They rather want them difficult and hard than easy and most of them can finish it. They say a perfect track is one to three drivers finish it but the rest don't. It's extreme difficult to make tracks for these powerful cars.

as always, amazing film and you must admire the skill of the drivers and their awesome machines. unfortunately, we do not have these competitions in the States as far as i know, so i don't know much about their makeup. what type of engines do they use? Thanks.

Thank you :) USA has similar, it's called Rock Bouncing. Icelandic Formula Offroad has been in Dyersburg, Tennesse a few times to race with Rock Bouncing. They have different engines but mostly LQ motors

Epic! How does the scoring work? 250?

If you finish the track you get 350 points. Each track has point zone, if you past first one you get 100 points. Last gate is 350. If you touch a gate you can get -20 -40 or -80 points. -40 for reverse and -10 for stop :)

No there was no time track this time. They wanted to use the water, they could just go slowly over it if they wanted too.

@@Ольга-з3о Yeah time tracks has been few this season. Akureyri has a good racing area for making a good time track. Same as Egilsstaðir but they didn't. Icelandic Championship is finished but there is still one race left. Second round in Cup Tournament in Stangarhylur next Saturday.
