In a season which saw a four way battle for honours between Emerson Fittipaldi, Jackie Stewart, Jackie Ickx and Denny Hulme, the title was destined to go to Emerson Fittipaldi, at 25 the youngest ever car World Champion.
This is the colourful, fast and frantic story of the '72 Austrian GP from the Castrol archives, with a documentary style and quality of production that captures the flavour of the early '70s F1 scene.

It has been akin to race long parade laps. I can no longer follow F1. Call me a Luddite but, F1 started going to shit when it went to automatic gear boxes. My granny drove a slush box. I attend vintage , pre slush box era races. That’s where the fun is.

Thank you for these terrific historic films. They bring back a flood of memories for me. I watched these guys race at Watkins Glen in 1973. It was the last race for Cevert and Stewart and made for a very unhappy event.
