Awesome reaction! I have more empathy toward Jenny than most. Having a mom who was sexually abused by her step-dad for years. Then went on to become an addict and was on the streets. When I would go find her when I had my own place as an adult she would always tell me "baby I would never bring my filth to you." She always felt like she didn't deserve us kids. I think it was the same with Jenny. She just didn't think she deserved Forrest. My mom is 18 yrs clean now just FYI it can happen for people who are users.

First off your mom is awesome and the fact her sobriety is a legal adult shows her dedication and that’s awesome. For Jenny to me it’s how she reacted to things when she involved Forrest that upset me. The 6 year old son not being brought to Forrest attention until she is dying and knows financially he’d be safe with Forrest. Married Forrest only for legal standing so her son would go to next of kin. She couldn’t even consummate the marriage because of the hive/aids (per director). So I question some of the motives

I wish more people understood Jenny. She didn't hurt Forrest out of malice. She DID love him, but didn't think she deserved him. She was abused by her dad and lacked self worth. The abusive men were familiar to her. She was used to being used as a sexual object, but when it came to being valued as a person, she didn't know how to accept that. Forrest was good and pure. Jenny, in her mind, was damaged goods and Forrest deserved someone better

I understand she took and took from Forrest, she only had sex with him because he was upset, left before he even woke up, supposedly had his child and never left him, didn’t say anything for over 6 years where she conveniently contracts aids (per director), and drops this on forest e after he is filthy rich. Married Forrest and never consummated the marriage or else Forrest would have got it. Not to mention she contracted aids within the 6 years after having the kid out the child would have it as well so she didn’t even learn after having a kid

@looneysuniverse I want to give you something to think about. Magic Johnson had HIV. His wife Cookie didn't get it. She was pregnant when he found out. The baby didn't have it. They had several more children without them getting it. Maybe your assumption about when she got it was wrong. Most people don't know they have it for the first few years. Last, I'd like to point out that when she left, Forest started his run. She had no way to contact him until he went back home. The reports she followed about him running said he was a gardener. She may not have known he was rich or she might have. I don't think the money was a factor. I think she just had to learn that she deserves Forest. She never thought she was good enough for him.

@@looneysuniverse You should remember that Forrest was running for more than three years right after she left. There were no cell phones, Internet, or other means of communication. She was also likely dealing still dealing with her own problems. She contacted Forest when she felt she could. Also, the book this is based upon says that Jenny contracted Hepatitis C which was also unknown at that time. HIV is almost always inherited, and Forest Jr likely did not have HIV.

1. The music royalties alone must have cost a small fortune🤑🤑 2. Kurt Russell did the voice for Elvis. 3. Typically. ships/boats are given female names. 4. Having gotten his degree Forrest would have gone into the Army as an officer like Lt. Dan. Not a recruit. His ASVAB kills that. 5. He actually saved Lt Dan twice. Once in the field and again to get him out of his post war funk and Dan turned his life around. 6. Normally an enlisted Army person would be fully aware of his/her separation date. 5. Jenny did indeed give him the best gift ever (it wasn't the shoes)😍😈 8. Jenny died of Hep-C from dirty needles when she was in Caliphony.. 9. It's ironic that Lt. Dan told the guys to take care of their feet because he loses his. 10. At the rally Forrest says, "In Vietnam, sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that." 11. You have had a ride through recent US history and culture. Straight up, this is one of the greatest movies and stories ever made. And yes, I'm pretty sure I said something very similar in your Saving Private Ryan reaction comment section, but it's the truth. Tom Hanks in the 90's was pure gold. It's extremely rare that I can get emotional from just watching a time condensed KZbin movie reaction, but I definitely cried some tears at the end when Forrest was talking to Jenny at her tombstone. Robert Zemeckis, who made Back to the Future (like you said), really knows how to tell a wonderful story. He also made Cast Away and Contact...two other great movies. This movie hits on so many levels and brings out so many emotions, it's just wonderful. To be honest, I didn't like how you were goofing around and laughing so much in the beginning of this movie, but you eventually realized there was something meaningful happening. Oh yeah, I almost forgot....the soundtrack in this is soooo damn good. And yes!! Do a reaction to Band of Brothers....it's fantastic!

I think the reason why people get on Jenny’s ass is because she kind of portrays that typical experience. Forrest was always the “good guy” waiting for Jenny and she would pick the other guy. She would pick the other guy all the way until she was old and had her fun, then she gave pity to Forrest. I don’t think people look past her abuse. It is recognised but because Forrest is the man he is, the narrator and we know his story, he is undeserving of the treatment she often received from her.

Thank you for being realistic and asking the question about whether that boy is really Forrest's. I've said this so many times to people and they say I am being way too hard on Jenny. No I'm not. I understand that she was traumatized as a child. I'm not going to say whether or not it was long enough for her to straighten her life out. But I will say that none of it excuses her from her treatment of Forrest. And more importantly, she is an unreliable narrater. There was no paternity test. All we know is what Jenny told Forrest and again, she is an unreliable narrator. Why is it that she only decided to tell Forrest about his son after she was diagnosed with a terminal disease? Why is it NOW that wants to marry Forrest? Seems to me someone in her position would want to make provisions for her son and goshdarnit isn't see lucky to have her lifelong simp who happens to now be a millionaire available as always to save her. The boy's name means nothing. His name could've been Derrick before she thought up her plan or even named after one of gazillion men she slept with. We just don't know. So while I'm happy in the end Forrest found new purpose in marrying Jenny and raising her son, I am not blind to the fact that he may have just been used by a mastermind villain aka Jenny. The facts don't lie. 🤷🏾♂️
