I can attest to the 2017's stability at speed- I had to haul my baby to the ER in the middle of the night for 80 miles across a mountain pass a couple of months ago. We made it in 45 minutes- faster than a medivac flight could have been dispatched to us. The car transported everyone safely and there's nothing I'd rather be driving through elk country at night (unless it had Volvo's critter detection/braking system)

I had the same opinion while driving my Mazda 5 van on the B roads. Specifically when I was on 95 south heading towards Phoenix...it's a mini van and it was putting a smile on my face ....it was beautiful. It's a joy to drive on the twisty curvy up and down B roads...... Mazda is awesome. Not much can keep up.....and outright power is far less a factor on those roads.

I went with a slightly used '16 (for about 10 grand off the cost of a '17) BUT I must say I test-drove a '17 first and that G-Vectoring tech is awesome that they stuck in there. But any 6 from 16+ is a peach, with a beautiful interior. I love mine.

I’ve been looking to buy one after I drove my friends one day. It was a test drive that turn into an emergency run to the hospital. These cars are amazing! I live in a very wooded area and my friend got bitten by a cotton mouth. So I had to rush her to the ER which was 40/45 miles away. I made it there in about 12 with no problem with anything. Plus me having a handicap brother that has to be seen at the doctors frequently I would definitely love to get one of these.

love my 6. coming from a big rwd v8 american coupe i didnt like it much at first cause i never drove fwd before or a car with electronic power steering so fwd and numb steering feel felt weird to drive to me especially when trying to drive spiritedly but as i got more comfortable with how a FWD handles, how to balance the cars weight in corners and understood how to use the gearing in manual mode better its a riot. it may not siund good or be able to do burnouts or lay rubber down the entire street in the rain like my thunderbird did but its fun in a diffrent way.

I have a 2016 6 now, previously I had a 2012 UK model. In my opinion the earlier was even sharper in terms of steering and outright grip. The downside was a firm ride and intrusive road noise at times.
@WorksOnMyComputer3 жыл бұрын
I'd agree with that. I have 2012 and a 2020 Mazda 6 wagon. The earlier car is a better daily steer as the new car has been tuned within an inch of its life for fuel economy and the electric steering is much lighter and has less feedback. The result of all this is it feels sluggish and sometimes just not that engaging to drive. You have to put the car in sports mode and adjust your driving to enjoy it. The standouts for the newer car are the interior upgrade in materials and features, quieter cabin, much smoother ride and much improved LED headlights. Downsides are lack of driver engagement in normal mode, its harder to get in and out of thanks to a more sloping windscreen, ordinary entertainment unit and the default fuel economy tuning just dulls the car. I wish Mazda had a third setting for the engine where you could dial the fuel economy emphasis back a bit to make it more like the old car, without having to go to sport mode. Overall my 2012 is the better drivers car. The one thing both have in common is they are better equipped, have better materials in the cabin and are better value then the equivalent CX-5 models!
@know916bound Жыл бұрын
@@WorksOnMyComputerhave you tried turning off traction control? It doesn't actually fully disable it. But I've noticed it's a tad quicker and stiffer overall in turning. But not as dramatic like when in sport mode. Their G vectoring just interferes too much in normal mode unless you're real careful and specific with the inputs.

Natural aspirated engines and no CVT in this class, this is maza identity, but i think it will be hard to keep this way due to low sales. There is risk that this driving focused economical brand will change in near future to keep inline with other brands and reduce costs.

Do you know the # of decibels for the cabin noise of this car at idle, 30mph, 50mph, 70mph, 85mph ? Mazda cars are notorious for being noisy. This is something i would like to know as a potential buyer but i don't see any reviewer bother including it in their reviews...
@n0o0bplayinggames547 жыл бұрын
I was thinking of a simple sound meter app will do, I would like to have some general numbers. I read an article today about Mazda making the key safety features standard in their 2018 line up (except for the Miata). I hope they will add more sound insulation like the 2017 CX-5 for the 2018 models.
@matthood75467 жыл бұрын
I bought one this past weekend. It is very quiet. No idea of decibels but comparable to any car in it's class. We test drove all of them. It has a firm ride without being harsh. Definitely inspires handling confidence. The Bose audio system is a pretty good upgrade over standard. It should be an excellent cruising car.
@n0o0bplayinggames547 жыл бұрын
What's your typical MPG ? I heard most of the cabin noise from Mazda cars is due to the tires they are using. I noticed the Mazda 6 now has $2500 customer cash + $500 labor day cash + ($500 loyal) -- I think it's possible to get at 2017 Mazda 6 Touring Mica Pearl out the door for $19,000 :)
@matthood75467 жыл бұрын
I'm not exactly sure on the MPG. It is my wife daily driver so I am not driving it as much as her. I did check out the instant MPG readout while we were on the highway and it looked like we were in the mid to upper 30s with the cruise on. Obviously city driving will be less MPG. Let me put it this way. We traded in a 2009 Ford Focus with 135 hp. Now we are getting similar MPGs in larger car with 50 more hp. That's pretty incredible to me. The driving experience and comfort level are also night and day between the two cars. The leatherette seats are nice and I wouldn't know they weren't real leather if it wasn't pointed out to me. As a bonus it seems that leatherette may be more durable and easier to clean than leather. As far as the noise, I would suggest that you just go drive one and decide for yourself. If you fall in love with the car but it's just too noisy (which I think is unlikely) you could have some Dynamat installed underneath the front carpet. The customer cash can vary depending on what your location. I will tell you that I was thinking we might have to get the base model but due to the customer cash and the fact that the car had been damaged in a hail storm back in April (which was 100% fixed and undetectable) we were able to upgrade to a red Touring with moonroof and bose system. Bottom line, the Mazda 6 is equal to or greater than any car in it's class. If you like it and can get a deal on it that you are comfortable with you won't be screwing up buying one.
@n0o0bplayinggames547 жыл бұрын
I heard leatherette (pleather) will be unconformable to sit on during the summer months (it can get up to 120 around here in the desert). Leatherrete does not breath like leather/perforated leather/cloth so it will be hot and you will be sweating unless you have the AC on full blast all the time.
