As far as scrounging resources go; not bad. I just got into Fallout 4 myself, and building forts or houses is... not my forte.

Well, I really enjoy settlement building, and have had a bit of practice. If it's something you like doing, you will eventually develop your own style. If not, the settlement system can be _mostly_ ignored in favour of other gameplay.
