Thanks for being so honest brother! a lot of people think that you are a bad fisherman if you are not catching big fish and they think that you are the best fisherman if you are catching big fish, they never think about the location that you are fishing which I think is the most important thing on fishing

I grew up off western avenue in the 60's and 70's and we used to rise our bikes down to the back of Neyland Stadium and bank fish. U gould catch about any fish you wanted. In the 80's we got a john boat and fished all over Ft Loudon caught good fish. I went a year ago and I he carp at Calhoun's were the only fish we saw all day. Pitiful. Love watching your channel Dave, keep it up.

I think I already mentioned it, but probably 2 months ago now I ran into 2 guys at Skull Island on Chickamauga and of course they had like 8 or 10 rods active at the same time, but that particular day they caught 1 fish in the 70s, 2 in the 60s, and some in the 50s and 40s. Just going by what I saw of their boat and rods and what they told me. May be worth another 30 miles south of watts bar dam to fish the lower Chick. I used to catch some decent cats at the discharge of the Sequoia Nuke Plant, but that's been about 30 years since I have even tried that but I am going to again. Took my boat out there to fish for bass and nearly grounded it. I have forgotten the lay of the lake bottom there and next time I will be plotting depth. I know you are probably opposed to it, but I would love to see you make a Striper trip. I watch you because it's you. You are fun to watch regardless of what you catch, but I love watching you fight those stripers maybe even more than the catfish. Maybe there are still some decent Striper on Ft Loudon too??? Hopefully? Just a thought. I love watching you catch those skipjacks too!

Your right about fishing pressure. Back in 68 I went up on Douglas about ever weekend and crappie fished. Never saw a boat all day long and if you did it was some kind of paddle boat with oars. Then they came out with the first bass boats and boom down hill from there, plus back then you could get to the water and fish anywhere you wanted to. Now you in somebody’s yard and get off of my bank. I feel the hurt like you do. Take care catfish man and think of days gone by.

There’s a lot of places that are like that. And you are so right brother. FISHING PRESSURE IS REAL. I was just talking to my sons about this very thing yesterday. About how in the 90’s it wasn’t a problem to catch a 30+ cat here in Alabama, big 30+ Striper as well. Well them good ole days are long gone and I thought the same thing. To damn many ppl catching and keeping instead of catching and letting go. I understand a mess maybe every couple of months but not every damn time. And I’ve seen plenty of ppl do that. And I used to ask ppl if they wanted the fish I caught. Not anymore. Nice video. Great proof vid

We fished yesterday,6 hours, only got 3 bites and landed one 18 pound bluecat, usually have a better hook up rate, I am guessing we should have down sized the baits. It was looking like a skunk day til my wife hooked up. Loaded out after dark at a unfamiliar ramp.

I live in the Baltimore Co, Maryland and this is so true for the good spots here. I have a few spots that I still know where fish are. I don't tell a soul about them. I blame the internet for this issue, This is the same issue with Crabbing, as soon as someone catches crabs in a particular body of water everyone knows about it. Very frustrating to know what it once was and what its become.

There isn't many big blue catfish left in the Cincinnati pool of the Ohio River. Our record blue cat was 96lbs caught 12 year's ago. Our average big blue catfish is 30lbs, and you're lucky to catch one of those. They are few and far between. Commercial fishing has decimated our part of the river. They have big one's further down the river, but here it sucks! If Kentucky would ban commercial fishing I think we'd be okay for the next generation

I know exactly what you’re saying. I live in Illinois and back in the day I’d see nice big mature whitetail bucks. At least one every 2/3 trips. Well thanks to the tv shows and magazines that’s a thing of the past. Now I’m lucky to see one per season. I guess out of state people don’t want to help keep the doe numbers down . So not many bucks live long enough to get big and so many doe’s that the crops are still getting demolished. I agree with catfish Dave. Let’s start respecting resources and other states resources. Sorry, a bit lingthy . Thanks for the video

It’s sad knowing how a great a certain place was for fishing at one time and a few years later it turns I to one of the worse places all because it gets out fish,, a lot of people don’t get the point of why we let fish go and I explained to them that I let them go to maintain and conserve the reproduction of fish and they still don’t get it and yes I keep some smaller fish whenever I’m going to eat them other than that I CPR specially the big ones but I will not lie about me catching some tanks because I haven’t yet but I’m working on it.. and great video

Dave I'm A Retired Conservation Officer,, The Knowledge You Have Of These Fisheries And The Catfish In these systems Is A Treasuretrove That The State Fisheries Mgt, should be utilizing , What Fishermen See And Experience Is A valuable Resource , Just as Important If not MORESO than any other scientific method Or Data that they have now Of Collecting Much Needed Information , indeed Fishing pressure is very real ,I've seen it myself , I do see it still, big Catfish are rare here Anymore I think it's due to Dang illegal Hoop Nets and Illegal Slat Boxes which I took pleasure in Confiscating any chance I had , all being a class one Violation $$$$$$ that could get the Attention Of someone quick , another Big Problem was "Telephoning" or "electroshock Systems" hurt the Flatheads back when that was A "in" thing back In And around the 60s & 70s, It Sterilize The Fish They Left Behind, Killed alot that was never seen And Alot were Dip Netted , Flatheads took the brunt of that because they lay on the bottom , Sad Situation For A Fisheries System , It's Come back somewhat but I don't think it will Ever return to what it was once , Ft Louden Needs A Slot Size Desperately from what i can see And A Limit that's Obvious from your videos there's no Doubt in my mind if the Catfish are There your ell capable of Catching them but if they're not there Nobodys gonna catch em , the numbers of fish first need to increase so I'd guess anything up to a 20 inch fish should be thrown back, keepers (if any for a couple of Years) between 18 and 25 inches with a 10 fish Limit PER BOAT ,Not per Person , Five years of that and the Numbers would return, then change the slot size to manage for a Bigger fish ,and allow a smaller say maybe a 16 /24 inch keeper Size with 12 per boat everything else goes Back in the lake A few years of that and Ft. Loudne Would Be A Smokin Place Again , State Mgt has to become a Tool because PEOPLE Cannot Manage Themselves , There's Nuttin Wrong with catching a mess of fish to eat ,but you know as well as I do Some don't know what a mess of fish is or when releasing a few becomes the Survival of a fisheries System , During my Service I saw many truckloads, usually 2500 to 5000 fingerlings at a time of different species of fish Put in the waters here in restocking efforts by the State (Mississippi) but I'm telling ya the pressure makes that a necessary Continued Practice to keep a fisheries system alive , anyhow , Enjoyed It as always, Keep ya line Tight 🎣,,,, Happy New Year To Ya 🦈🎣
