I did not have time to visit this place this year but I was there 2020. I think you forgot to go inside the museum. It shows our national hero DR JOSE RIZAL.

Intramuros actually won Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction in 2022 at the 29th World Travel Awards. ᵔᴗᵔ Sad though that you missed the Rizal Shrine. I don't think that was the entrance to it. It would have been great if you got to see it and learn about our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal who was executed in 1896 by firing squad by the Spanish for the crime of rebellion. The Rizal Shrine even has his bullet-struck vertebra on display. While he was not directly involved in the Philippine Revolution against Spain, his novels (Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo) are often cited as part of the inspiration for the revolution. The Rizal Monument in Rizal Park (where he was executed) has his skeletal remains beneath it and is guarded continuously by the Philippine Marines Corp. Jose Rizal was a doctor (Opthalmologist), a polymath and a polyglot, and has numerous monuments and memorials both here and abroad.

The man tied up is Jose Rizal who’s the National Hero of the Philippines. The books that he’s written against the Spaniards ignited a revolution that eventually led to Filipinos learning to stand up for themselves. He was detained at Fort Santiago and was executed by firing squad with his arms tied up like that statue.
