OWS Crazy hasn't been set to rotate when originally installed; the rotator motor was removed

It had a rotator motor in it when it was taken down from the pole. I have no idea what this comment means.

@@vanamonde2 A bit late yeah, but what he meant is a lot of the jail-bars rotators would tend to break easily. Which is why in a lot of jailbar bolt videos, the siren never rotates.

Awesome, it works! I bet that was the first time it's moved under its own power in quite some time now. Glad to see it coming along, looks great so far!

The horn is going take an insane amount of work because all of the cracks. Every bar grille weld is broken. I haven't decided what I am going to do about that yet. There is even a 4 inch crack down the length of the throat of the horn. I have no idea how that happened. That's it right in the middle of the horn throat at :023

That's neat. About how smaller are these rotator boxes compared to their later model counterparts?
@vanamonde28 жыл бұрын
--This is for non 1003 Thuderbolt rotators-- This rotator box (early 1950s) is 22" wide (like all I have seen are, 1003s too, no matter what age). It measures 12" tall and 12" deep. The rotator box of the mid to late 50s era 1000 like I restored first was 12" high and 14" deep. It was 2" deeper on the non-pulley end of the motor/gear reducer. So the later rotator boxes are offset from center with the longer towards the non-pulley side. Later rotator boxes are a little bit "taller" with the extra space between the support plate and the bottom of the box. Evidently this was to make room for the capacitor on the single phase motors. I believe the dimension between the rotator support plate and the top of the box is the same on all models, except 1003 of course.

@@vanamonde2 I have a couple questions regarding the 1000, y know the rotator plate That holds the motor and the gearbox how wide and how deep is it, another question is, what do you mean by "deep" and yeah thats it
I'm new to your channel,dose/can 1000 still sound?

Does the horn feel heavier then the later models (e.g non jailbar)?
@vanamonde28 жыл бұрын
Yes it does. I can usually run these rotators on this type of skid without them tipping to the side. I had to add the RCM cabinet and chopper cap for weight. It didn't tip all the way over but it leaned a bit when it got to the side so the horn is heavier out on the end.

do you restore sirens for enthusiast?
@OWS_Crazy18 жыл бұрын
Was it still on the pole?
@Glist_8 жыл бұрын
Do you have any plans for this after restoring it?
@vanamonde28 жыл бұрын
No. Not yet. The biggest problem is going to be fixing all the cracks in the horn.

Good to see you're still keeping this thing alive!
