Chucking 4 cylinder badge on the rear doesn’t make the car a “sleeper”. These came factory with a 4.1 cross flow. Plus only Holden 15x7s in the 5 stud were interceptor wheels.

Wow if that is a sleeper, wonder what mine was! Same model 250 crossy 10.5 comp 230@50 cam bigger valves roller rockers 650dp holley extractors 2.5 inch mandel bent exhaust, c4 3.5k stall converter manual value body 28 spline axels mini spool. Would rev to 6300rpm with a stock bottom end top gear burnouts! Paint was falling off it dints vinyl roof. Looked like a piece of shit but put a lot of people to shame!

My old Tranny van ( 4 cyl 2l V4 ) had a 250 2v , 650 Holley 45/79 cam, big springs, big sump, race oil and additives, extractors etc 150~200 HP Giggle kit ( nitrous) on top top loader. With exhaust unbolted would go to 7600 before it laid over. Problem was it would upset the main bearings with too many 7g + runs. Wheelspin with 215 tyres all the way to 64 MPH in first gear, dry bitumen. Bloody good sleeper, particularly up hills. Scare the shit out of 'em.

230@050 was that the camtech hydraulic one? Did you ever 1/4mile it? 3500stall itd wouldve hammered. Even a 3000 stall wouldve been good hey to use abit more of the torque production.

Watch for cracking at the C pillar base, my TE factory 4.1 auto started to split in half, also in the rocker panel where it joins onto the front rails.

Add a SOHC 4l from AU and tickle it up or the trusty 4.1. They are a stronger engine than most people think they are.

Love the sleeper muffler trick, these torquey crossflows in these lite cars are qqqquick off the mark. Good to see young guys modding older cars. Nice clean Corty.
