Is the gatekeeper really that good? I enjoy it but almost every fight against auto-shotty players I get instantly turned to fire, even if I've got the better rarity type.

From someone who mains the gatekeeper, I'd advise to try and use it less like the auto and more like the hammer pump, because it technically does more damage than the auto. Also, add a drum mag and laser scope to it when you can, as those help DRASTICALLY when face to face with people. TLDR, use for in your face battles with drum mag attachment
