Wow, lots to say here 1: Chapter 5 was far into development before season OG was released and I don't even think the higher ups at Epic were expecting it to be that much of a success, but by that time it was already too late to course correct, they basically had to commit to what they had already made. 2: Complain about collabs all you want but they're keeping this game relevant and alive after all these years, I know this video just came out but just look at the most recent event, so many people I know wanted to hop on just to see Juice Wrld. Hell, just look at every event that was a concert or a collab related event (Travis Scott, Galactus, etc). Those always do the highest numbers than any other event. People that HATE Fortnite are wanting to give it a try just because of Godzilla, or hell look at last year with Peter Griffin. You get the point, I have no idea why we're this far into this games life and people are still bitching about collabs, if they truly made the game worse, and nobody liked them, than they wouldn't keep making them 3: Fortnite is a platform now, as much as you want to trash on that fact, creative maps and other epic made modes outside of br related ones make up half of the playerbase daily. Doesn't mean I like it fully or that you can't criticize the direction they are taking the game, but it's just a hard fact. They want as many people as possible playing Fortnite, even people who don't care for shooting games, they have so many ips in this game at this point that Fortnite has become a more social game like Roblox or Minecraft. 4: If these new cosmetics and items to buy weren't selling they wouldn't bother putting them in the shop anymore or they would just lower the price like they did the instruments and cars, they stopped even putting Lego sets in the shop because even though the mode is decently popular, I highly doubt anyone is spending 20 dollars on virtual Lego for one mode Overall, not a bad video, I do agree with a lot of your criticisms of Chapter 5 gameplay wise, and it seems like Epic is listening already with Chapter 6. I just personally don't understand your attitude against Fortnite becoming more than what it was, games like these evolve, and keeping everything basic and the same doesn't keep a game like this alive and thriving. Experimenting is good, but it can also result in failure, and even though I mostly enjoyed Chapter 5, it is clear that older chapters just had the more all around better feeling gameplay and game loop.

I actually liked chapter 5, season 1. Most fun I've had in a season in ages. Ranked felt nice, and the weapons were fun as well. Competetive was really good too. There were some problems with movement early season, but overall I thought it was refreshing and I always love a spy or agent theme :) This is just my opinion tho

I played in Chapter 1, Season 7… and while it was fun for the time, when I really sunk time into Seasons 1-4 of chapter 4, or Season 1 of chapter 5, the game just had a lot to do for loot. I think Hitscan is fine, but getting beamed because I tried gliding away can get annoying after it happens for the 6th time.

@@CossmoDudedood in the video obviously didn’t play the game TOO much either if he says the Boss weapons in Chapter 2 weren’t overpowered or the Cerberus Medallion was fair… nah, of all the medallions, that one was genuinely a game breaker… you absolutely could not land at Grim Gate without 30-50 other players landing there for it. Also… Yeah… getting exposed on the map IS a detriment, because it means a better player mostly likely CAN and WILL rock you because they constantly get notified where you go and in Season 1… the map had a few open areas for that, and a good player will know where you are with the medallion circles. Chapter 5 had some arguably good changes like mods and the fact the Battle Passes were all pretty good. But it is still mid, I don’t think it’s amazing but people need to chill and have the mic taken away from them before saying stuff like that. The season 1 medallion were FINE, mostly because everyone was still bad in that first week.

Chapter 1 had a nice feel to it. The cartoonist style and colours give a great vibe. Nice loot pools in most seasons. Skins and emotes were good. I used to complain about mechs and planes (still annoying af) but there have been worse items in the game. Chapter 2 felt slow to start, but it really grew on me. I loved chapter 2 season 2 the most (I know, just like so many other peope), and had a lot of fun with friends playing the game. It felt really refreshing as a chapter. Season 3 I regret not playing much. Season 4 was one of my favourites, again. Chapter 5 was a chapter I thought would be worse - I expected to hate it. Surprisingly, i loved it. The start felt really refreshing and I loved the guns and new cars. New map felt well planned and I liked the vibe. Season 2 didn't catch me on at the start. Really wasn't attracted to it. At some point, I gave it a try, and it felt nice apart form some items. Loved the hades dashes. Season 3 was really not my cup of tea at the start. It felt so up to luck with all of the broken items like fists and cars. At some p9int I tried it out and the map and vibe felt nice. I like to play competitively. This season felt like it was trying to force me to play casual. Regret not playing much, still got to lv 100 tho. Really looks like it is underappreciated. Season 4 had a really nice vibe. Reminded me of the older marvel season back in chapter 2. Didn't play much, but from what I did play, I liked. There were a few bad items though.

10:05 the problem with this medallion was that the boss dropped the boom bow which needed rocket ammo and it negated the downside of the weapon entirely 10:40 dash medallion literally won players games bc noone else would have them endgame unless it was at the underworld (or have them anywhere else on the map anyway) 34:45 my biggest gripe besides cars was that there was way too much mobility in this season with the fists and it was rlly hard to track players that used them also thank you for explaining bloom, i knew it was some kind of randomizer but i didnt know it actually depended on the crosshair other than this i wanna say i agree with mostly everything else and great job on the editing and the concept solutions like the reserve shield and the doodles throughout!

There's a reason i find myself playing STW every now and then, because Epic stopped updating it, however sad that is, it still has the same feel that fortnite had almost 5 years ago. So many people say that mod benches should have been more accessible, but I feel like that would have ruined the whole point of mods in the first place I feel like mods were added to make a stagnant loot pool more varied. Mod benches completely ruin this idea by giving the play the ability to edit their loot pool. In my opinion the game would have been so much better if there was no mod benches, since it would have also allowed epic to buff the different mods since the players can no longer just put all the best mods on their guns. Another cool thing would have been legendary mods which exist in a fifth slot and change something fundamental about the gun (I'm not good at ideas but maybe something like fire bullets, explosive bullets, make the bullets deal 20% of their damage directly to the health of the player) so that it would be even harder to choose between a green pistol with a legendary mod and a purple pistol with no good mods.

Honestly this video just came across as really just pessimistic. I understand Chapter 5 had more than its fair share of issues, I absolutely had mine and do agree that this is by far the weakest chapter Fortnite has ever had but to just say that absolutely every aspect suck just comes across as really tone deaf and just an unwillingness to change because like it or not I highly doubt you would be playing this game if it stayed exactly the same as it was when you found it the most interesting or enjoyable. Change whether good or bad keeps things interesting and keeps things from growing too stale. However all throughout it just seemed like there was an unwillingness to change and try new things and just shove it off as “it sucks”. I understand all the points and issues you take with this Chapter but to some extent I have to say it is really blown out of proportion.

the problem with having shield reserves though is it takes away the point of having shield pots in your backpack since you already have an extra 50-100 health. adding on to that at that point they should just increase the health from 200 to 300. it wouldnt work.

Thank you for not just making it a metaverse critique. So many people have made videos "critiquing" chapter 5 hust for 90% of it to be about the metaverse and 5% to hr a sponsor segment, leading to only 5% a critique of the actual gameplay. While I did really enjoy C5S4, C5S1 and C5S2 were painfully boring and C5S3 is legitimately a bottom 3 season of all time and one of the least fun gameplay experiences I've ever had because the horrific lack of balance. There was the occasional really fun weapon like the revamped DMRs, the monarch pistol, and the enforcer AR once I got good and realized it wasn't shit, I was, but the rest of the weapons that weren't special mythics weren't crazy. The new movement in C5S1 before the buff was awful, the chaoter got incredibly repetitive, and the one time it wasn't, it was one of the biggest pieces if shit of all time. Epic has to have one of the worst balance groups of any corporation. I'm really glad that chapter 2 remix came out after and was a really nice refresh, and it looks like chapter 6 is already going in a much better direction, especially with returning to a more simplistic state

I feel like the main problem is not even the new collabs and stuff, it’s the fact that Fortnite has gone from I’m simplistic gameplay, trying to create realism, the game was easy to understand even with a little lack of knowledge didn’t really change much. The game also lost its storyline which gave it its character as well as its cartoony features. On top of this many players are either in high school or grown now, and aren’t dumb little kids anymore who is easy to manipulate into spending for v-bucks on the newest Battle pass, so all of these random characters and ideas are not selling for the majority of user who are usually 15 years old and on up,what I’m really saying is the game has no direction and most of the time it’s just a money grab and this has caused resentment from many players especially the veteran players

Same they were cooking with medallions and I usually played with my brother in duos and since I realized something, if you had one you get 3 shield right off the bat, and if you got 2 you would only get 4 so I gave the other one to my brother and we would both get 3 shield per second instead of just one person getting 4 shield

I would agree that this is clearly the worst chapter. I can't believe more people aren't talking about how they essentially gave up on attachments partway through. I do have some disagreements, as I did enjoy a bit more when it came to the items and gameplay styles, but it really doesn't change the fact that it could have been so much better. Hope it gets better in ch 6. Also crazy based music choices. The Xenoblade music was hitting

It’s really easy to get used to hitscan for any new player. The real skill lies in projectile. Can’t tell you how many long range fights I won because idiots can’t learn angles and distance or the fact the sniper was nerfed into the ground meaning you have to put extra work in.

Chapter 5 Season 1 had a solid lootpool. The skins in the battle pass were really good, i throughly enjoyed them, even the one i didnt care for (oscar) was still well made, and i only wouldn't run because its not my type, but i can respect it. Medallions were cheating to say the least, wow free shield, as the palyer who was often the one with all five medallions at the end of the match its was always a free win, (my winrate was over 85% this season, even player whilst lagging i still won). Lootpool Followed the basic format- Fast shooting ar, slow shooting ar, pump + fast firing shotty, the smgs were hyper smg (standard smg) and the thunder burst was the second most op gun in this season, then the sniper, 0 iq point and click. The Grapple blade was balanced and really good movement with solid healing. Collabs were nice, tmnt is always a dub plus they implemented it well, the solid snake one was actual mid tho, the season suffered from chapter 2 season 1 drought fatigue, but thats it, it was actually a solid 7/10 other than the fucking sniper and no hitscan. Event was nice for a mini event. Season 1 easily best season of the chapter. Chapter 5 Season 2 aka the biggest waste of potential ever. Skins in the battle pass geuinely fit the theme (finally), a very strong pass. The Medallions were: Op dash coin (cereberus medallion), Siphon medallion (hades)(just give us siphon in comp epic), Zeus medallion for free rotates, not op but solid and the Ares Medallion (we dont talk about it). The only good thing was the map changes, hazy hillside was good but brawlers + olympus is better, seethe hazytards. Really hit and miss lootpool, warforged ar was nutty if you were good, gatekeeper should be removed it was too fucking braindead. Dmr was cheeks, and the sniper until it was nerfed was still broke, now its actually fair. The zeus bolt was free getting focus by a squad syncing these were uncounterable. "Justs hoot back lol" yeah try doing that when they'd done 2x the damage output compared to your hp in a split second. The chains of hades were op (other than waterbending). Wings of Icarus was mid (good for mobility but free ticket to getting beamed.) Collabs were cheeks, avatar was actually solid other than the fucking waterbending but it took up nearly half of the season, you know the "greek" season... The star wars event was cheeks, never ever want to see epic put darth vader in such a bad spot with mid ass items (at least the map changes were okay, a few small outposts larger than any others really seen before from the other star wars events). Mini event was amazing for a 'mini' event. Season 2 gets a 3rd place from me out of the chapter. Season 3, the map changes were beautiful, thank you epic, actually good map changes has been a constant this chapter, adding actual changes which stay more than 20 minutes (chapter 2). Skins were bad, to say the least, The Machinist, T-60 power armour and Megalodon were the only skins most people would remember, the rest were actual buns. Medallions: Unlimited ammo (How balanced), Machinist Medallion (Shield 1's medallions but retextured) and slam through every wall medallion and get in any box card. The lootpool: Actually good, followed the basic format but were actually nice except for a certain few items. Nitro effect was cheating, "Let just just walk into your box accidentally bump near you because the aoe is that big and unstabilise your gun so you can ads for a max pump and i can kill you with the gatekeeper for free" The nitro fists (point and spam click adventure game) were the worst thing this season. fucking uncounterable if the other person was good. A kinetic blade that could fucking have infinite use and no cooldown + extra damage. Also completely negated building (you know the main thing that fortnite uses to spereate itself from other games) Cars were the second coming of the mechs, a free win unless you were that incompetent, i didnt have many issues because the nitro fist uppercut ruined most cars kids' days or i sat on ultra height with boom bolt + unlimited ammo medallion. Event was okay at best. This season will be alongside primal for the worst season ever. Season 4 was really.. odd... The pass was pretty solid for a marvel fan, gwenpool, shuri and emma frost are the only skins id ever wear from this season. Really fat pass though like a 7/10 at least. Emma Forst coin (Scan coin) was unfair, wow a free shakedown that auto pins everyone, have fun trying to hide from that), Doombot Coin (Siphon part 2), and the Mysterio Coin (we dont talk about it) The balance was a mess, the jetpack was op as hell, so they made it rarer so you are completely screwed if the player with it is actually competent and you cant get it yourself because its that rare. Cap's shield + War machine's turret forced me off the game, i hit level 200 in 8 days then didn't play again until fortnitemares. The iron man items are really cool and fine. the main weapon lootpool is good, a burst and striker and combat ar while it still in is really nice. The shotguns though, the soveriegn isn't bad, but the gatekeeper is just better and the hammer pump.... is the hammer pump. Smgs are okay, the dualies are op as hell for box fights and you can beam at like 40+ metres if your aim is good enough and crack people's shield with ease. Mini event was underwhelming, hopefully the live event makes up for it. There weren't that many original marvel skins this season as i was intially expecting, so thats technically a negative. Overall, i'd put this chapter at the bottom, below chapter 4, at least chapter 4 had season 2 (mega is amazing, the havoc pump is the greatest shotgun ever don't @ me) and chapter 4 season 4 (despite being a chapter 2 season 2 rehash) still felt unqiue and really well thought out aside from Kado Throne's "death" off screen. This chapter is what i can summarise as fortnite sticking to their guns too hard along with heavy experimentation with what works for fortnite and what doesn't. The metaverse really messed with br hard at the start, Bullet drop sucks and doesn't fit fortnite, the new movement is still odd when compared with the old one, the rarity removal is dumb and the graphics made fortnite seem very drab. I hope epic learns from their mistakes for chapter 6, but overall this season had alot of really cool ideas but epic really pushed the communities tolerance when we saw it explode in season 3 with the casual's vs people who actually play the game and care about the integrity of fortnite.

You made some very valid complaints about chapter 5. Though, a lot of it i personally was able to overlook myself and i had fun with season 1 the most. It was really refreshing to see someone make an in-depth look at the chapter overall and its mechanics instead of showing things we know about and saying "peak" or "mid" and leaving it at that. for more mag options they could of added differant ammo types like ap rounds that deal damage through shield to hp however it lowers damage to the gun by %25 so if it would hit 100 damaged ap rounds would hit for 75 and for a weakness on ap rounds maybe if the enemy has no shield it would do %50 less damage then normal however to make this work on zero build it first has to break overshield before it's effects kick in
