Barry Allen is a CSI. His mom was killed by Eobard Thawne when he was 11, right before thawne gets his hands on young barry, old barry (the flash) grabs him and runs him a couple blocks away. His dad was framed for the murder of Nora Allen. He now works for the CCPD (central city police department), he was a huge fan of Dr. Harrison Wells and he wanted to visit S.T.A.R. Labs to witness the activation of the Particle Accelerator (barry is a nerd), after that he goes to starling city and eventually find out that Oliver Queen is the Arrow, when he gets back to Central City he heads to CCPD and into his crime lab to do some CSI shit, but then BOOM, a wave of dark matter flies by as the lights of the city goes out, the particle accelerator has exploded, Barry closes up the crime lab as he gets struck by lightning (it was orange), he goes into coma and halfway through Harrison wells brings him over to S.T.A.R. Labs to take care of him, 9 months after getting struck by lightning he wakes up to become The Flash.

The original reason Barry Allen became the flash was that he was infected by a particle accelerator in the show but he was struck by lightning so this is similar
