Would it be possible to pre-drill the beam before you set it up there Then all you'd have to do is just drill through the preexisting hole into the upright beam be a lot easier on your arms Just a thought
@Fadeaw4y7 сағат бұрын
He does not have the required precision to line everything up as he doesn't make a real wood joint. That's ok but i would suggest getting a bigger drill.
@Assassinlexx4 сағат бұрын
The drill you should look at Milwaukee hole hog. To make a big difference in screwing lag screws etc. Is a good coat of anti-seize. It works as a great lubricant in wood. What's your plan for waterproof you underground and water penetration in the floor?

12:43 Alan, instead of swinging a hammer and blowing out your shoulder pinning those logs. Grab your SDS Max hammer drill, put it in hammer mode with a grounding rod bit… I know the wizard like swinging that hammer, but save your shoulders, especially since you’re up there balancing! Keep up the great work/content!

The asfalt in the train wood blocks is VERY dangerous to breath! Making a bunker from it is a bad idea.
@just4giggles-ex5ne6 сағат бұрын
Not asphalt, creosote and other chemicals to keep them from rotting and eaten by bugs but yes dangerous to breath and cut with a chainsaw. This structure is illegal according to EPA regulations.

@303coconut2 сағат бұрын
After watching you sometimes struggle I see where one of those man lifts such as JLG makes. In addition to easily lift you safely (we worry about you working alone) those lifts can easily lift a lot and can be driven from the platform and power is also available so adding an electric winch to move beams easily is now a back and knee saver. With your expertise you could find a tired one cheap and rehab it. Just a thought Brother.. keep up the good work and more videos, even if they're shorties
@alexx8f2bСағат бұрын
When using railroad ties to build a wooden tunnel structure and drilling into them, there are some health and safety considerations to keep in mind, even if you're wearing gloves. 1. **Creosote Exposure**: Railroad ties are often treated with creosote, a chemical preservative. When drilling into them, small particles of creosote can be released into the air, which you could inhale or come into contact with through skin exposure, even with gloves on. The creosote can irritate your skin, eyes, and respiratory system, and prolonged exposure is linked to more serious health problems, including cancer. 2. **Gloves**: While wearing gloves helps to minimize direct skin contact, it’s important to ensure they are thick and durable to prevent creosote from seeping through. Also, after working with railroad ties, you should wash your hands and the gloves thoroughly to remove any residue. 3. **Ventilation**: When drilling into railroad ties, especially in a confined space like a tunnel, it's important to ensure good ventilation. This helps reduce the risk of inhaling toxic fumes or particles that might be released during the drilling process. 4. **Dust and Debris**: Drilling into the ties creates dust that could contain creosote particles. This dust can irritate your lungs or cause other respiratory issues if inhaled. Using a dust mask or respirator rated for chemical exposure would be a good precaution. 5. **Protective Measures**: In addition to gloves, consider wearing protective goggles or face shields to prevent debris from getting into your eyes. You should also use a respirator or dust mask to protect your lungs. To summarize, while gloves provide some protection, it's crucial to take extra safety measures, such as using a respirator, ensuring proper ventilation, and thoroughly cleaning up after handling railroad ties to reduce the risk of creosote exposure.

Alan, a time and effort saver; Get a five gallon bucket to put the rebar, extra battery, 4lb.sledge, drill/bit into, tie a light rope to the bail, throw the rope over the beam so you can have all the stuff needed to set the pins. Haul it up when you need it. one trip up, one trip down. A good habit to get into, making provision to keep all needed tools and hardware where you need when working off the ground. Unless, of course, you enjoy climbing up and down for the exercise.😆 I applaud you for dealing with all the contrived drama that Sparks throws out. It became too tiresome for me.

Hello from Sweden. Why dont you just sell all the wood and buy a couple of shipping containers and weld them together instead?

Probably because its an underground bunker so shipping containers would not support the weight of the soil and would have to be reinforced which is basically what his doing now
