The only reason she still has her job...she's female. Yahoo is a sinking ship, but she'll be ok. She already is worth more than most of us combined.
@JustinLHopkins8 жыл бұрын
Are you on the board? No. You don't know why she's still there.
@RunDCM8 жыл бұрын
She's there because women are lacking in the CEO's of the world. The liberal media is always bitching about female representation at the highest of levels and "glass ceilings". If Yahoo dumped her like they dumped the last 4 guys who didn't do anything then it looks bad on them publicly. Don't be intellectually dishonest with your pretentious attitude.

@robertwisser58258 жыл бұрын
No she didn't, you need to read a book written by Google/Yahoo employee *Douglas Edwards* called "I'm Feeling Lucky: The Confessions of Google Employee Number 59" to get a slightly better informed understanding of what actually transpired and then you can understand why Google's revenue and profitability continued to increase after 2001 while the profitability of competitors such as Inktomi Corporation, Overture Services Inc., and Yahoo declined. Basically the key decisions that brought Yahoo where it is today were made by Timothy Andrew Koogle during that 1999 to 2001 period when the company lost more than 50% of its value, Marissa is just getting blamed for bad circumstances that she inherited from predecessors and it can be exceedingly difficult to make a large organization such as Yahoo.com or the British passenger liner the "RMS Titanic" do a 180 degree U-turn after the ship has already hit the Iceberg. If you read another book by Robert X. Cringely called "The Decline and Fall of IBM" then you will see that the exact same pattern that happened at Yahoo.com is also happening right now at IBM, i.e. IBM was stuck in a bad place under the leadership of John Opel and John F. Akers,, then Louis V. Gerstner, Jr. temporarily got IBM out of the mess that they were stuck in, then Samuel J. Palmisano made some disastrous decisions as IBM CEO that ruined IBM's long term profitability because these decisions were focused on the short term gains of temporarily maximizing IBM shareholder value on the stock market, and now Ginni Rometty is given the near impossible task of trying to clean up Sam Palmisano's mess, which to be fair, is an near impossible task akin to someone who is not Hercules trying to clean out the Augean stables. If you read this blog entry written by Robert X. Cringely, it explains a little bit about what's been going on in 2015 - 2016 with Marissa Meyer and Ginni Rommetty both being tasked with cleaning up the broken corporate machines that they inherited from their predecessors, see link below: www.cringely.com/2015/11/30/soylent-green-now-made-with-more-women/

Life is hard for Yahoo. They were close to buying Google for $1 billion in 2002. They were close to buying FB for $1 billion in 2006. So in 2012 it seemed like Tumblr could be the new big thing, they took their chance and bought it. Turned out it didn't grow as fast as they could and couldn't be monetized to make their money back.

one thing, if the office is in the middle of nowhere and you need to travel a lot it is hard to be motivated. if the office is close to home then I agree that it is great to be in the office even longer hours. because you are free to enjoy work and you are relaxed that whatever happens you are not faraway from home. I loose all motivation to work because I have to travel longtime to get to my job and also the office is so noisy that I can't hear my thoughts... Indeed I can't do anything during the day and I have to work from home anyway on my evenings without the noise so that I can have my work done...

Interesting that this interview does not reflect at all my experience of the company as a Yahoo Business Webhosting customer of 11 years. Yahoo have always fallen down with direct communication to their actual customers/supporters. And their customer service has been zero... Yes, that was "zero", even in this present era of customer relations. Yahoo announced the "sale" of their webhosting business, to spin-off Aabaco, on Tumblr! (I'd thought Tumblr was long gone.) So I had two weeks notice to extract my site and domain registration from them altogether, rather than being forced to sign with Aabaco Holdings - most of their SB customers had no idea that they had a choice in this! But it was a good move to get rid of their hosting business, as they were so bad at it. My personal File Manager on their site did not change at all (despite an annoying bug) in 11 years! Just think of the technological changes that have occurred in the past 11 years, not to mention even the advantageous complexities of CPanel! So maybe it is better that they are focusing more on their strengths now. Though the clumsy Aabaco debacle change-over has left many past customers very bitter.
@KerrieRedgate8 жыл бұрын
***** You're welcome, Max M. I didn't mention here that Yahoo Small Business, after it had been dissolved, and was no longer hosting my site or domain registration, actually automatically extracted money from my bank account for both for another month! No way I can get that money back from them. Incredibly incompetent. I have severed all connections with their services.
@KerrieRedgate8 жыл бұрын
***** I agree with you. Amazon's customer service and packaging etc in the past few years has really deteriorated. (In fact, Amazon also owes me money, though not enough to fight over!). Ethics is the word for our current paradigm, and if they don't get it, they won't survive, at least not in the same way.

She'll last about a year or so more and then quit. Not just that job- ALL work. Forever. Watch. That's the pattern you see with 99% of women. That's why only 2% of CEOs are female. Plus any time you see a female in any position like this be extremely suspicious.. 99% of the time the reason she is there for corrupt and dishonest reasons. Any female in an administrative position only works roughly 35% of the year and this is why they are quickly fired as well because they are not showing shareholders any profit because they are doing nothing to improve the company because they're always absent. This is why women gravitate to useless seat warming government positions - to them the private sector is Hell on Earth because you actually have to perform and compete. This video is all pure bullshit. Who knows? Women might actually achieve something one day if they would actually show up for work on some kind of regular basis, learn human accountability and at least half way commit to something and actually take an interest in something beyond status, useless liberal arts degrees in college and celebrity gossip. But until then, you'll stay exactly where you put yourself - where you were 50 years ago, 98% of you working menial grunt jobs. *Source- Official Dept of Labor Statistics:* www.dol.gov/wb/factsheets/20lead2010.htm
@jeffbridges53127 жыл бұрын
And I was right! She is now officially going to be gone as Yahoo is being sold and she will be going down the memory hole, another female fail. Ladies, do yourselves a favor *stop trying to be men. You're not men. You've failed at trying to be men for the last 50 years since feminism started, do you need ANOTHER 50 years before you FINALLY get it? You give 'loser' an entirely new level of LOW.* Get back to the kitchen where you belong.
@jasonshoup42137 жыл бұрын
You said she'd quit after "year or so". That was 2.5 years ago. I'm just amazed you had nothing better in your life than to monitor your KZbin comment exchanges from over the years and crow about your predictions. How's your life been since we've chatted last? Also, it's estimated that women have about 4% of CEO positions in the S&P 500 list, which not great, I'll admit, but it's STILL double your number.
@jasonshoup42137 жыл бұрын
I also read that the average duration of a Fortune 500 company CEO is about 4.6 years... It seems worth noting that Mayer has been CEO for roughly that same amount of time (started in July 2012). So doesn't that suggest she's lasted just about as long as the average man?
@jeffbridges53127 жыл бұрын
Jason Shoup Lol But they're not forced to leave because they drive the company into failure and bankruptcy and end up getting sued because of their horrific businesses practices like all women do: nypost.com/2016/10/08/marissa-mayer-accused-of-illegally-firing-men/ The 4 years is just a coincidence.
@jasonshoup42137 жыл бұрын
So are their tenures so short, then? If they're doing so well, why not stick around for more than 4 years? You seem to know why they DON'T leave, so why DO they leave?

The interviewer is very well informed. She seems to have done her research before the interview. This is a very good practice as an interviewer as she has to know what she is talking about and has to be aware of the interviewee’s background. She is precise with her knowledge, casually letting out numbers to strengthen her knowledge as facts. She is able to hold the conversation

Wouldn't have paid her monthly more than US-$ 1800,- incl. of everything from the beginning . Her performance is less. She is talking too much meaningless unimportant irrelevant stuff (I am sure she could not repeat everything from the sense because she is not knowing what she is talking about, she is talking too fast, so that people can't grasp it) . She should have talked (and listend to) more with her own people below her at Yahoo. Irrelevant person. She should enjoy rest of her life with the 400 million US-$ she stole from the shareholders in 4 years. Totally overpaid person .
