Forum Nuus: AfriForum-buurtwagte mobiliseer landwyd om hul gemeenskappe te beveilig 16-10-2023

AfriForum se buurtwagte landwyd het die afgelope naweek aan die organisasie se derde nasionale massapatrollie deelgeneem. Heelwat AfriForum-buurtwagte in Gauteng het Vrydagaand by die Voortrekkermonument bymekaargekom vir die afskop van die patrollie. Die Voortrekkermonument was ook in groen gehul ter nagedagtenis aan die slagoffers van plaasaanvalle. Die aanvang van die patrollie is regstreeks uitgesaai om die vermoëns wat AfriForum-buurtwagte met hul hommeltuie en radio- en kameranetwerke het, wat van ’n sentrale of mobiele punt gemoniteer kan word, ten toon te stel. Volgens Jacques Broodryk, woordvoerder vir Gemeenskapsveiligheid by AfriForum, kan daar nie meer alleenlik op die wetstoepassers staatgemaak word nie en moet mense by buurtwagte betrokke raak om hul eie veiligheid te prioritiseer. All communities will need to start working together for their safety and also prosperity. Once people realize they can’t wait for help to come and start doing it themselves upliftment will happen. Whether food, clean streets or crime- it isn’t difficult when communities start working together to improve their own lives
