Actually I think Naib is British and Nepalese. In one of his deduction things, he has a picture of him and him mom and his mom is wearing traditional Nepalese clothing. The reason he left the army was because he was getting prejudice against him for being not purely “English.” Then he left and became a mercenary because he didn’t like the way he was being treated and the violence of fighting on a battle field. Edit: He also became a mercenary because he got higher pay and he wasn’t forced to fight like when he was a soldier

So after reading magician's birthday letter I realized that there's a possibility that magician didn't even wanted to kill his mentor. He also doesn't know much about wilding so there's no reason for him to kill him. And the "uncivilized guy" can only be also wilding cause he's only wild guy in game. So outside of the manor magician and mercenary were talking about wilding, but conversation wasn't really long cause explorer interrupted them. So again he had no reason to kill forward if they were talking about wilding. From that I can understand that mercenary tried to kill wilding and killed forward without a reason.

There are many things that imply that wildling did not die .: 1. When he disappeared he took his diary (and while they write in their diaries the survivors are still in the game). 2. After his disappearance, magician continued looking over and talking about it with the mercenary (the uncivilized guy was not William) 3. His room was not occupied, meaning it looks like he would return to the game later. 4. If the forward died or was disabled, there would only be 3 people left without the Murro.

If you look at the trailer of forwards diary it shows a clip of Forward drinking Wine and dying. Obviously it's not here because this is a story your detective is reading. Forward can't write a story on how he died...if he's dead. I assume Mercenary Assassinated him. He did offer the wine. But we will see. That clip only means Either Mercenary or Magican Will Get a Diary.
