Forza Horizon 4 - The 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 Is Too Heavy For S1-Class!

The all new 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 is now out in Forza Horizon 4's Series 32 update! Unfortunately despite having the weight reduction upgrade, it is one of the heaviest car in S1-Class if you decided to keep the original supercharged V8 engine. It is also not the most ABS on friendly car to drive either.

2020 Ford Shelby GT500 review:
If you want to make the 2020 GT500 competitive, you have to Viper V10 engine swap it. You get overall less weight and more power within the same class. And most importantly a lighter front bias weight distribution as the original engine made the car too heavy at the front.
Another issue is this car isn't friendly with ABS on. It has a very high tendency to slide under braking. So you must brake very early otherwise the car will slide into the corner from lift-off oversteer.
As lap time shows, the stock engine is not competitive but V10 swapping it allows it to be a decent performer in S1-Class.

​@@Zentoven99 On sprints, and some circuits, RWD cars can often outperform AWD cars just because how much more power you can fit into them, and/or how they are lighter, and this often results in superior handling, and a better P/W ratio. If you're good at the game, RWD can be very good even online, and why wouldn't laptimes count? You do need to do fast laps online too, not just in rivals. AWD has the launch advantage, which is very useful online, but a good driver can make up ground by using the advantages that RWD brings to the table. You don't need to take the absolute meta online to win, there are a lot of very good cars that aren't meta tier nowadays, both AWD and RWD, and the absolute meta fastest car in S1 and S2 for road racing is RWD btw, the Shelby Monaco KC. :3 Delnevo420: why is it then that in FH3, every meta car was AWD, rivals and online? Except for some S2 sprints and some circuits, where the Regera was outshining other cars. In FH4, rivals meta is RWD, and even online, RWD can be used just as well. FH3 was literally stock transmission meta, with stock transmission Subarus and EB110's flying away in A and S1. RWD has a higher skill ceiling, it's faster than AWD but you have to deal with possibly being roadblocked and with the slower launch. And yes, if you're decent to good at the game, it's perfectly useable online.

It’s built to be decent in both straight line and corners, but not necessarily impressive either. With the recent 765 LT, it made the current GT500 looked like a clown. Never really understood why american car companies always gave their cars high power but will not be able to harness it as good as european cars unless you give it either drag tyres or track tyres in order to keep up with the rest. Bro the McLaren is mid engine configuration and way lighter than the GT500. The GT500 is front engine configuration and much heavier. Engine placement configuration plays a role in acceleration and handling. Mid engine configuration cars have superior acceleration off the line to front engine cars. The GT500 beats many other cars but not the McLaren tho.

In real life, it has 6 inter coolers, DCT transmission, 16 inch brakes, and a large 5.2L V8 supercharged engine. Yes, it's slightly over 4,000lbs being 4,050lbs but the carbon fiber track package version has a big wing with 500lbs of downforce and cup 2 tires to keep it well planted. It's dual clutch transmission helps it shine!

From my experience. On the straights, its a monster. However where i find it struggles most is when accelerating from a stop or out of a turn. The back wheels just spin like mad and you have to feather the accelerator until you re out of said turn. And dont even try on wet roads.

The car is heavy and have poor aeros as compared to the supercars its racing. It has a powerful engine but with lack of downforce, that translates poorly when transferring power to the wheels since it has less grip.

Even has the carbon fiber track package but they took the weight of a standard GT500. The carbon fiber I believe reduces its weight to about 4050lbs. If they took that weight with same PI, could have been a really good S1 car, potentially the best S1 car for Muscle cars, might not be meta but would be better

This is why playground games must bring back the R class system. In horizon 1 we had r3,r2, and r1. This shelby would an amazing r2 class. The difference in performance between s1 and s2 is too big, rendering a significant amount of cars pretty much useless for any class.

But in r2 you can work on weight reduction and handling upgrades since your limit is higher than s1, but still low enough so that it doesn't get outright destroyed by hypercars on s2

you should try the mercedes clk gtr, it can get the ultimate grippy race slicks in s1 if you move the weight around a little bit. 6.9l v12 still lets accelerate out of corners good but top end is lacking. still one of my favorite cars for just cruising because of its s2 class grip in s1.

It definitely feels heavy but it also feels pretty grippy compared to some other cars of its class. I definitely had a good time using it. Though I didnt bother keeping the stock engine, the viper engine did it more justice.

Hello, you say "buff stocks engines" but wich way ? To get more room to work with a stock engine ? Because the point to having an engine swap option is, for sure, to get more powerfuls car, however this option become useless if it's not

One way is to remove the revs 'over' redline PI is calculated with auto gearshifts and this gives engines like the LS swap advantage because it got nice power and about 1000rpm over redline...

The PI system suppose to balance cars. Engine swap clearly shows it is 1.2 seconds faster on the test track while being lighter and more horsepower while still in the same PI.

@@IsuckAtDriving Ah, I gotcha. Tbh I've remember struggling with either stability or stiffness and whatnot. Particularly at high speeds from what I recall.
