They may have only added race mode for cars that do more then move just the spoiler. One car that I think you should try is the 17’ Ford GT as it lowers the suspension a good amount

It is only a visual trick that applies a different tune to your car. Nothing special. You could do this before in Forzavista now you can do it in game.

if you slow the video down to x0.25, when nick picks the p1 and just a frame before the speedo pops up and for one frame you can see the blacked out sports mode button so maybe it has it but since this is early access they just havent put it in the game yet but only for the cover car

I believe, for now, that there aren't any other cars with race mode because the game is still only a preview build. I'm sure cars like the P1 and Panamera will eventually be given race/sport mode, but it's only on the Project One for now for the sake of it being a test and seeing how it works

@@nyox999 People keep saying this with many things. Preview build is just a demo, not like an alpha or beta release. Many of these things are finished. I think we will only get a handful of cars with this feature.

so to sum it up for everyone, Race mode makes you much grippier in the corners but will lower your speed, race mode off makes you hella fast but hella boaty if that makes sense

ngl this makes me wish the AMG One in the game had the DRS mode like it does in the real world. What that means is that you can have the wing up so you can corner better, but when you're on a straight, you can press a button on the wheel that makes the wing dip down a bit so theres less drag and you can speed up in a race. You can even see it on the steering wheel if you go into the cockpit!

It seems that the race mode is like the project One's version of the convertible roof, so I'd be interested to see if lowering the roof on a convertible has an impact on drag in game

I’d say it likely does. Even in horizon 4 just losing a spoiler makes noticeable difference to handling and with them now having this feature in the game where sports mode affects performance, it’d be weird for convertibles to be left out

It’d be nice if you could do either mode in a race. Maybe you’re online racing with a Chiron and you get a race with mostly long straights, it would be cool if you could put the wing down for the whole race to be (even) faster in the straights

The Chiron in FH4 automatically lowers the spoiler when you are doing high speeds, like 300 km/h+, not sure exactly where. Also if you step on the brakes the wing goes up for the airbreak. I don't know if it actually has an effect or if it is just a visual thing.

Can you do a comparison of drifting in FH5 VS FH4? Now that FH5 has drift diffs and tires I wonder if it'll be different, but it should be different.

I'd certainly think it's different. They wouldn't put all those parts in for no reason. (Would they?) I've never been a big drifter but all the new parts have piqued my interest, so I would hope there's a difference, I might actually try it out.

I'm pretty sure they will since the rally parts (suspension & tires) in FH4 made a big difference even when tuned identically to the race/street counterpart. Drift differential is a godsend as I always felt the race diff was a bit limited for drift builds IMO. Fingers crossed.

i think the massive rear wing and the flaps one the project one made the car more draggy so removing them increased the top speed and when they are activated the increase the downforce which with common sense gives it better cornering ability

Another interesting thing to note, the wing down mode also has a small trick to danger sign, taking advantage of the raised front : As did the CLR, when the car does get above a certain angle above the ground, the front oes provide lift, and not downforce anymore...

well when this car goes into "Regular mode" what it is actually doing is going into a more Aerodynamic state, the flaps close and wing goes down which reduces the drag on the car making it more slippery and allowing it to cut through the air much easier which in turn gives it a higher top speed.

I think the other cars will have race mode switches as it’s only early gameplay however if you look at when he switched into the p1 the button to change was there for a brief second however on the Porsche it wasn’t so I recon it will be on other cars but that it’s just not implemented at the moment. Game is looking stunning tho and cant wait to play with the sweet new sounds

If you could turn on or off Race Mode while in a race that would be cool, but I think that would mean lap records on longer courses would be topped only by cars with a Race Mode so it can get the best of both worlds with corner grip and high straight line speed. It would be cool though, its not like the car needs to be stopped in order to change suspension height and stiffness or put a wing and wheel arch vent flaps up or down.

Cool little info on the AMG Ones engine, the turbochargers are electronically assisted to reduce or completely eliminate lag. It uses electric motors to spin the turbine if lag is detected.

I really hope the Lexus LFA gets a race/sports mode and normal mode, because not only could you control the wing like in the real car, but if you check the dashboard there are knobs just above the shifter paddles that let you set "Sports - Normal - Wet" modes, so seeing just sports and normal mode in FH5 on this car would be nice!
