Something a lot of people forget about Porsche is that they are an engineering company who also make cars, just like Lotus and Rimac. So that means any other car company can simply pay them to design a car or certain car parts, it's how we got the 914 which was supposed to be the Karmann Ghia successor before VW bailed, and the 924 which was supposed to be an Audi before they too bailed (which wasn't bad for Porsche because they made a ton of money selling them). The first gen Seat Ibiza even had a fuel injection system by Porsche which was very proudly showcased on the engine. And that's just 3 things I can think of, there's probably many many more

Nick the v8 was a race engine from Le Mans (sauber) NOT an SL go watch Jason cammisas revelation and they could and did make way for the v8 it’s just that they didn’t fit cause the body was wider so they contracted Porsche to BUILD them to Mercedes specifications and there was a lot of back and forth between the factory’s but then for a time you could see Audis and Mercedes coming out of the same factory which is cool

This was not a Porsche sedan. Porsche is an engineering consultant company keep in mind. Mercedes only hired Porsche to bolt parts from different Mercedes onto a W124. (M119 came from the Sauber C9 originally, where it ran with around 900hp with twin turbos). Porsche did the engineering and assembly, but it was all Mercedes parts. The RS2 was a lot closer to a Porsche then the 500E was as it has Porsche parts all over it
