why do I have to press it at the same time? if I press x (default) then the gear will go down by one, if I press b (default), it'll go up by one. I don't have to press at the same time?

A is the clutch. you need to press either x or b and a. if you shift without a, your gear changes will be slower.

Super noob question here, but: do you switch gears up when the needle is reaching the red on the speedometer? And when needing to shift down, do you do it whenever or is there an ideal time to do it? Thanks! Great video btw

I switch gear up right before the rev limiter. This is typically a little bit past the beginning of the red line.

@@SDriving I'm on PC. I don't have the option to switch gear up and down. I also don't have the option to switch ebrake and clutch. Neither appear in my advanced controls. When I tried to change my buttons manually, gear down isn't assigned by default. All other buttons are assigned to a function. When I map gear down to a button, it disables another function. It won't let me save until I assign all of their mandatory functions. It's dumb because even photo mode is required.

The clutch literally does nothing. I've been playing with it for days and haven't noticed a difference with or without the clutch. Its supposed to be in nuetral when the clutch is engaged

Apparently it does. In my experience drag racing against "unbeatable" AI's is almost impossible (also may depend on a car) to win unless you use manual clutch to gear up.

Best tip. Save for an elite controller, make X and Y gear up and down, and you’ll be flying around. It’s beyond natural.

You can try tapping the buttons. First the X button then the A button. So far it works for me.

Haha wow. My "advanced controls" menu does not have Switch gear up/down Switch E-Brake/clutch Switch look back/camera. We have the same game yet mine has less controllability than yours? Good thing I didn't waste money on this game. It irritates me enough that I can't drive or setup my controls to drive manual w/clutch. I was able to in Horizon 4 for a little bit, then it did the same thing by not allowing me to. It's like I need an extra button that the controller doesn't have.

The manual clutch doesn’t work on my G9 23 I got the G9 23 yesterday I’m at work right now but when I went to Forza four I had no issues at work flawlessly a game that I don’t play it actually had manual clutch the car rolled back when I hit the clutch Forza five I paid $108 I want my money back

Below the xbox button there is a button with 3 dashes on it. That's the save button. You can click that to save or you can save by backing out of the advanced controls menu when the game prompts you.

They dumbed down the brand.. the stalling and grinding of gears were realistic and made the player correctly perform the operation in order to drive a manual !! I even thought maybe switching to an older car I may get the grind back or at least stall if I didn’t pay attention to my rev NOPE ! Smhhh . May use my control for 5 it’s basically an automatic game & my setup for 4 more realistic driving experience !

this is the worst setup to shift...if you guys been gaming since nfs underground you know the best setup is a=gas x=brake clutch=lb rt=shiftup and lt=shiftdown ..the way you have it is really hard to downshift multiple times
