Bravo! It's great to see these clogging dancers and some step dancing. Until recently I was aware only of such dancing in the Appalachia region of the US and from the Scots/Irish. I mentioned this to a dancer from Devon who made it clear that clogging is widespread in the UK.

They make it look so easy. I would have broken 3 ankles and possibly fractured a tibia by the time i would have to complete the whole dance. This stuff just kicks ass.

Grew up in East Tennessee and this is great stuff, although not really 'clogging'. More like Irish Step Dancing and some excellent Tap thrown in for good measure. Incredible talent here.

This style is English Clog Dancing (or clogging as we call it here). It's very different to Irish Step Dance and modern day tap has links to this rather than the other way round. I think your clogging has links to Appalachian Step/Flat footing?

Clogging originated in England fool ! Started from the mills making the sound of the machines in the mills with their cloggs. Irish dancing is from clogging ! And tap originated from clogging

@@Tiz604 Came from the mines in Wales, Cornwall and the North of England actually, Clog dancing was a few hundred years before the mills came into be, it was a normal everyday shoe to wear, thick wooden soles, in the mining towns and later in the mills and factories of the industrial revolution, otherwise your comment is correct. The miners, especially the tin and coal miners took their folk culture abroad when they emigrated for a better life, and that's where the American clogging came from, the British immigrant miners. Many miners and family went to work in the mills, better pay and conditions, it really was compared to the dangers and risks in the mines, Clogging survived in the North of England and Wales. Also just to add a bit of salt, clog dancing is extremely popular in the Netherlands as all the poor folk wore wooden clogs, though it's much different to British clogging.

Unfortunately my Tennessee friend, this is the real and genuine clogging, which our miner immigrants took to America, and the step dancing is Scottish as there are many of Scottish origins in the North of England who went to work in the mills and factories during the Industrial revolution, there are many pipe bands in the North. I am not being derogatory to American clogging, it is a folkloric tradition that should be kept alive, it may have differences, it is clogging, but you should know its real origins. The blues and rock 'n' roll is yours, clog dancing is ours... at least you kept one British tradition... Yes the latter sentence was a sly dig, I couldn't resist it, but you enjoyed our clogging and that's what counts.

@@Tiz604 not saying they're irish , but there's a lot of irish moves in there , also something eastern european about their music and style , definitely not lancashire clogging from the 1900s

I used to dance with Fosbrooks and they dance many different styles including traditional Lancashire, Irish and Appalachian. Yes some of this set is an Irish style but some of the 9/8 steps were made up by me and some of the other girls years ago so technically they’re English steps. It is so nice to see them still being performed
