Update as of 8/24/2024: The game loads up fine and mods requiring FOSE work and I haven't experienced any issues. So, I've followed the directions to the point of launching the game and typing in "getfoseversion", but the only result I get from the game says "SCRIPTS: 'SysWindowCompileAndRun', line 1: Script command 'getfoseversion' not found. " The game still runs fine after this, but it makes me think the patch wasn't applied. The extracted files were placed within the same directory as the launch exe. Any thoughts?

after I install the patcher, fose, and all the mods i wanna use on nexus; my game keeps crashing. And before I installed anything my game starts up fine and I can get into my game like normal. Do you have any idea why my game is crashing after setting up the mods and such.

You aren't supposed to use the FOSE loader. Run the game using Fallout3.exe, or FalloutLauncher.exe

I feel. According to some comments, certain mods DO NOT work like the Unofficial Patch or whatever. I haven't tried this or played Fallout since this video released, sorry I can't be a bigger help!

For the Fallout 3 ESM Patcher, what folder should I pick for "path where the patched files will be installed"? Using the GOG release Or should I use Updated Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch instead? I don't understand the differences exactly Edit: Nevermind, followed the UUF patch instructions and placed the patched files in the /data folder

Ok, after checking each and every individual mod, I found out that 2 mods were the issue, it was an old Unofficial FO3 patch and a Talon company extra armor mod so thats on me lol

Error Fallout 3 does not appear to be installed and the installer could not be found. Try exploring to your DVD-ROM drive and selecting setup.exe to install the game.

Idk what I could possibly be doing wrong but this just doesn't work for me! I follow the instructions step by step. Have no other mods installed even just to be sure nothing else is broken. And it still doesn't work. Still tells me its an unknown version of Fallout 3. Game won't even load. What am I missing?!? I got 390 mods in my Skyrim and 270 in Fallout 4 with no issue. But Fallout 3 just will not work for me!

Can you do a video on how to install the unofficial patch? The big 500Mb patch. Looks like they want you to use a mod manager, when it used to be an exe. Can't seem to make it work, the FMM throws error messages.

I appreciate the recommendation, but I haven't touched Fallout since this video. If I remember correctly, you just install it as a mod through Vortex and no other setup needed. I could be wrong though.

Thanks dude, i got the goty off steam and it would crash at the start up menu where set up data files, vid settings etc etc and when i pressed play it would boot me to the windows desktop/ Very annoying to have to jump through hoops just to get it going in 2022 but alas. I had a similar issue with resident evil 5, games for windows got me there too.

the patcher does not do anything to the version at all. FOSE still will not work even when i "Patched" it by running the patcher and following the instructions to the letter. Not really sure if i'm doing anything wrong either since i followed the video but it didn't work for me. Glad it did for other people though Great video! Edit: Grammar Corrections

Hm, weird. Another guy in the comments said he was having trouble too. The FOSE team contacted me the other day saying that they started working on the FOSE update, so it probably won't be too long until the new version of FOSE is released. Your game was working before? Does it crash when you try to create a new game or even before? If it crashes when you start a new game, it's a problem between the game and your graphic card probably... Look at the pinned discussion on Steam abt fallout 3, it shows all solutions possible to the game work again.
