It's day 1 of a Fossiliferous trip to La France. On the way there we decide to stop in at Folkestone to have a look at the 103 million year old gault clay, famous for its beautiful pyrite fossils complete with their iridescent nacre shells. The gault clay was deposited in a calm deep water environment during the Albion stage of the Lower Cretaceous.
