Thanks for checking out Fossilis! To comment on the distribution of bones. The rules suggest that you spread them out evenly and then shake it using a mostly up and down motion so you don't end up with all the bones getting bunched to one side or corner which is what sounds like may have happened in your playthrough. Also if a player manages to find a very full spot nothing is keeping the other players from moving there as well or even adding or pushing a tile to cover that spot on them. I would definitely recommend trying it again and at a higher player count. Hopefully another play will remove the asterisk. 😄
