Lovely! I did not shop or even go to a shelter for my cat. I was sitting on my front porch one day and he came around the corner of my home, very slowly, giving plaintiff cries. I fed his some turkey sandwich meat. He came back the next week, and again the next, five days apart each time. Then he waited more than a week, after I bought some canned cat food. I was gone for a few days. When I came home, he was lying on the wooden board/railing on the porch. He did not ever leave. He is very shy of strangers. Why he chose me, I don't know. However, even though I'm a dog person, I am very glad Kinny P (baby talk for Skinny Piglet) did choose me. After all, he can't help it that he was born a cat...or a boy. ;-) Oh, I built him a shelter on the deck, but comes in the house whenever he wants to. I just wish he was more cuddly, but that is very s-l-o-w-l-y happening, kind of.

We don't know how old he was, but we estimated that he was about 20 years old when we had to put him down. Our new cats are brother/sister from the shelter, though!

I adopted my Maincoon/Tabby straight off the streets; He was a 5 mo old, Now He's 6 yrs old and I don't know where I'd be today if He hadn't have come into my life💖 Thank You EVERYone at BC RESCUE for ALL You do👏

We didn't get our first cat from a store or shelter. My mom found him under a tree infant of her appartment building, long before I was born. We don't know how old he was, but we estimated that he was about 20 years old when we had to put him down, may he rest in peace. Our new cats are brother/sister from the shelter, though! I love this story, how you tracked down cats from years past. I am so grateful that there are people in the world like you guys!!!

Hooray for BCR and all that you do! We've adopted a number of cats over the years, some from shelters (Marmalade, Truade [The Orange Brothers, may they rest in peace!], and Tabitha), one who came to our back door and decided ours was her fur-ever home (Faith). They've all enriched our lives.

This time of year is often called "Dumping Season" where I live because so many kittens are dumped along the roadside. Thus far a friend of mine has found four kittens, one on his own about two weeks ago, and three more just last night. It breaks my heart that people would treat young kittens so badly, but I'm glad to know places like BCR exist.

My only thing is...why "2 lbs"?? Why not the 8 weeks?? I Foster for my local SPCA, Humane Society, Rescues and a few Shelters as well...but they all understand that I have One Rule...after the Spay/Neuter, they heal here with me and Then I'll drop them back off...plus, if it's a Momma & her Kittens...I will wait until she weans them. I'm Not trying to pick at Y'all, or insult anyone...I'm honestly curious because I've never heard of that before..and was wondering If THAT, as in how much they Weigh, instead of How Old, would be a Better way to go. We wait until our momma cat weans her babies before taking her back to the shelter. We foster through the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. We follow their foster requirements. We know they have to weigh pounds to be eligible for spay and neuter. They are more adoptable the smaller and younger they are.

Cat Momma I'd prefer to see animals recover from surgery in a foster home rather than a shelter too, as long as they're confined to restrict too much movement post op. I know of rescue groups who agree. I like the idea of keeping a close eye on them. After having a cat die from cancer we believe was caused by a vaccine reaction, we now only use the safer rabies vaccine outlined on catinfo.org. We only adopt to homes that will feed according to site too as they're less likely to become sick from preventable things like diabetes.

Golden/Strawberry tigers occur when someone is trying to inbreed to make white tigers and they do not come out all white.

All shelters spay and neuter the animals before being adopted. This is the best way to try and control the pet population. There are way too may animals in shelters without a home.

Adorable!! And sad!! 670 kittens, and thats only at your place ... Oh I hopecthis will have an end SOON!! Its “funny” people say to me “ooh have they have kittens together” when they hear I have a boy and girl cat. Im like NO?!?!?! None of them can make babies, why should they? Just for my entertainment? NO!!! The cats doesnt care, and all that nonsense that a female cat can go crazy if shes not allowed to have at least one litter 🤯🤯🤯🤯
