Am I the only one who likes this new style? Torches and Supermodel aren't alike but are great for different reasons, bands go through phases and just because music style changes isn't a bad thing. It's still distinctly ftp-esque in my opinion.

Why do I get the impression from several (not all) comments that many people aren't paying attention to the meaning of the lyrics? He's lacing things going on in society that are not ideal and then questioning, where's the love? He's using hyperbole for effect and juxtaposing yin and yang ideas. The title of the song: Two addicts that professed to love each other but died young and violently-no loyalty to each other, drugs were their first loves. Deep stuff in the lyrics to ponder. Excellent job as always Mark F!👍💘

TheAmyable260 I know right? The lyrics are amazing, overflowing with meaning. Even if people don't like the music, the message outweighs that.

It's also the true history of Sid Vicious of Sex Pistols leader of the punk movement and Nancy Spungen a groupie of him that fell in love with Sid. They had a story and it ended when Sid were accused of the murder of Nancy... later on he died from an overdose.

I won't lie, i wasn't crazy about this track at first. I think it was the melody shift towards the end that really hooked me. And then i started paying attention to the lyrics. Now I'm straight up addicted. They really transformed some generic hard dance track into something incredible.

If you know FTP you know what their philosoophy about the industry and music is. The last album was literally about this, saying they don't want to be split by genre, or limited or have to answer to industry guidelines. I appreciate the change! Art isn't stagnant people

They're artists. They got new influences in the last couple of years and they evolved. That's what artists do. As long as they don't lose their FTP characteristic, they're still being genuine about their craft. They're not your robots, they're people with passion to explore. If you don't like the new concept, you can just stop listening to their new sounds. But don't expect them to redo the same old stuff just for the sake of being "safe", because people will scold them for overdoing the old songs anyways. Artists grow, and yes, we have our right to disagree. But don't limit their room/freedom to experiment. If you're a fan, be supportive of their creative decisions. Damn.

This is revolutionary, they have been only improving and finding themselves. This third album if not well received by the fans, but will most definitely will be a critical masterpiece. This is the most progressive and artistic they have been in terms of their sound in their career so far. The electronica component of their music has been tweaked a little more than usual with elements of dance punk and an ambitious progression. I'm a very happy FTP fan today.

Kaustav Ray damn me too I agree 100% with ya Idk why all these people saying they sold out because this has good lyrics and great electronic sound to it. I know people that sell out these dudes did not because their video has no occult/satanic logos or anything. I think it was a great song. I love their new style reminded me of Breathe Carolina when they were good.

@PNTDKTTN after the first time I thought it was good, the second time it was great, the third time I really started to emotionally connect to it .by the fourth time the some became spiritual. It was about god.im not religious or Christian but Mark foster is one of the many voices on this planet that speak for god, angels,God, higher spiritually developed beings. If u listen to his messages and really listen to his music, the instrumental side, u can't help but see god.im not a crazed fan obsessed with him.i simply hear every part of a song and see everything the artists were trying to do. Their canvas, the instruments, their paint brush, their voices. I love music but never learned anything but flute in middle school.now at age 39 I want to make music and silversmith jewelry. I was addicted to pills.they r prescribed to me but I'm on methadone and have been since 2007.im a waste of life if I didn't have my 2 girls. I'm a skitsofrenic as well and that started 3 1/2 months after my 56 year old mother hung herself. Who knew u could get a disease from severe grief. Yup as if what happened wasn't bad enough, WAM!!!!! I go full blown skitzo. I'm still not convinced 100% that I'm not just a psychic and talking to the dead.the dead talk using telepathy and that's how psychics talked to them. Psychics r rare.the spirit that is emotionally attached to me has lied and hurt me and made me fall in love with her under false pretenses.my fault.im gullable.but I really fell in love with her,I'm a girl. And I'm straight. But she used a male voice and pretended to be mt soulmate that was male and deceased for years and he was searching for me and he showed me what he looked like in my head and it wasn't real but I didn't know anybetter. All I wanted was my soulmate.that whole concept of a divine counterpart.someone made by God for u but u mostly don't grow enough spiritually in love inside u till you have changed your soul enough and that doesn't happen while ur on earth.its rare.maybe Jesus did it. Ghandi. But when u die life continues.

If you don't know someone recorded the murder and the lyrics are what Eric Garner said when the policeman were attacking him. I just recently got into FTP, listening to the first two albums into these new releases. For the older fans that are distressed, I'd recommend you guys re-listen to (and re-read) the lyrics and the way he's singing them. These guys are doing some great stuff on this new record, so try not to attach the stigma of Torches FTP, just enjoy that they're being creative again and take the music for what it is. That's called being open! They're creating something that they've never made before and it's maturing their sound imo

This song speaks to me on an actual spiritual level. The lyrics have so much meaning and intent behind them. Mixed with the sound it really does place me in a frame of mind that is so self-aware yet also aware of external reality and society. Does this make sense to any one else or am I potentially just high?

It took me 3 years to realize that the lyrics were actually calling out police brutality. This was made around the time of the death of Eric Garner and his last words were the same as this song’s hook. Fast forward to today and we are still dealing with police brutality with the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and more. As Mark said in the song “Where’s the love?”

Parading to the masses We're coming so fresh to death I've been stealing looks from shadows You conjure with your purse Yeah you're walking in stilettos But your nose is bleeding out I've been running from the devil But the devil's on my back I'm decreasing Took a leave of absence from the war If the wall is coming down Then we got to press the pedal Got my hands up in the air I'm saying I can't breathe I got my hands up in the air I'm saying Hey man get away from me Yeah, hey man get away from me Never ask for any favors There's nothing I want from you I've been looking for an answer To keep me from falling through And I'm waiting for the voice to speak 'cause I can't see I hope we'll hear the sound eventually I felt their claws obstruct and refuse Refugees in the new Rome They've locked our voices in the oven Like Sylvia at home My eyes are on the world My hands anxious To feel something real True colors tend to glisten And then reveal Where's the love? And why are we so far from love? Chased by badges, duckin' lights Push the dagger when it's right Martial law, inshallah Mi casa es tuya Ghosting like I'm Daniel Johnston And I'm locked up in the basement Where Satan lies in satin tweets And realigns his face lift The criminals are laughing With their empty, toothless faces We've melted all our gold To recommence our idol worship We all pretend one day We'll be the greatest of the Gatsbys Growling mouths with rabies And loyal like Sid & Nancy Hey man get away from me You pretend you got control Hey man get away from me Never ask for any favors There's nothing I want from you I've been praying for an answer To keep me from falling through Yeah I'm waiting for the voice to speak 'cause I can't see We'll hear the sound eventually We'll hear the sound We'll hear the sound eventually

It’s criminally underrated and honestly one of FTP’s best cuts on their discography. The tone is just super dark for a highly expressive and happy sounding band, the hanging bass synths are eerie as hell, and the lyrics are very realistic and interesting as hell. It’s a really enjoyable track.

The whole concept of foster the people's music is they've adapted their own style to the modern popular genre. Now that the electronic genre has kind of blown up they've molded their own music to fit that. I think it's rather brilliant and they did an amazing job with these four songs so far

People can't EVER find satisfaction, can they? I have no issue with the people who dislike this new album and/or some songs on it because they specifically enjoyed how FTP sounded back then and can't relate to the change, but the issue is the people who are flat out TELLING FTP that they "sold out" or TELLING them to stop making "this kind of music" and to "be their favorite band again". First off, I highly doubt that FTP would make an album that didn't come from their hearts. They're one of the very few artists who stayed very true to their own distinct style. Secondly, they do whatever the hell they want. They obviously have changed from their older styles slightly and personally I noticed the change start in Supermodel. And lastly, if you truly were a fan of ANY artist, you wouldn't selfishly put them in a box and force them to not change or progress.

Why are you guys complaining? This has always been their style. In Torches they got into electronica like, most songs in Torches hit into a lot of electronica. For example, listen to Helena Beat from Torches that song goes really deep into electronica, in my opinion. I like this song a lot.
