This is my fix for the RM-100 Tripod Mount from FotoPro. I used a heat gun to set the JB Weld rapidly. While I don't recommend doing this, if you need an item fixed quickly (to use sooner than 10-12 hours), this is one way to do it. Others will say why not use JB Kwik? Unfortunately, I haven't had luck with Kwik. Whenever I've used it, I regretted it. Either the styrene mixture wasn't strong enough, too brittle, or simply doesn't tolerate heat like the original JB Weld does. Others will suggest a quick setting epoxy, but I haven't had much luck with those either. Usually they don't have the tensile strength that JB Weld does... or again, heat resistance problems. My suggestion is to simply stick with what works, the original JB Weld. If you have the time to spare, allow the JB Weld to set normally as a cold weld. If you don't, and you need to use the mount right away, this is one way to do it. The repair is still solid. I'm certain it will stand the abuse of a point-and-shoot. Haven't tried a heavier camera on it, but we shall see. The mount originally broke with a mini-projector from LG mounted. Someone had tripped on the cord and knocked it down from table-height... breaking both sides of the mount off. In this version of the fix, I'm using the paperclip piece mixed with JB Weld like Rebar mixed with Concrete. Makes for a strong composite reinforcement.
