My grandfather passed away in December 26th 1972 I was just 12 years old it was the saddest holiday and when I heard this song it brought great memories that we shared together miss you grandad until we meet again in heaven!! 😞🙏

When the last verse sang: let's hope it's a good one without "any tears" I remember feeling a pit in my stomach because I was afraid someone in my family, especially my parents might die. So whenever this song played I got scared of the holiday because I feared it would bring a death in the close family. So I would get real quiet and go to a corner of the room and listen to the song with this big pain in my stomach dreading the coming holiday season. I was 15. It really got to me. Even now when I hear it I remember the feeling of dread and deep fear!

This happened to me fr when I was 9, my grandma who was like a best friend to me while my brother was always in hospital, died on the 8th of December and I was heartbroken💔😭 she was meant to come to my house that year as well on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day😭 now we visit her and the rest of my relatives every Christmas Eve

I was listening to this song yesterday as I always start playing Christmas music on Thanksgiving. The lyrics “ let’s stop all the fight” really hit me this year because of the war in Ukraine. It’s easy to complain about the nasty winter weather and how commercial Christmas has become but when you think about how many Ukrainians are without heat and power and how many families have lost loved ones you realize just how fortunate you are.
