This happened to me yesterday and I was so confused, I thought I forgot to hook the safety pin through the loop but I didn't. I haven't been kiting for that long but I assume this is how many accidents happen when launching your kite. You learn something new everyday, thanks for the video!

I realised this problem before it ever happened to me, so I moved to the cabrinha fireball system. That's also not perfect, but I removed the lower part and use it with a ring on a rope bar. Has never failed on me. Also less rotation force on my harness. The hook is obsolete. It comes from times harnesses were made for windsurfing.

Right you are, new chicken loops do address this problem, but lots of them come with another challenge which leads to snapping the pin off completely. Fireball looked good as well, at first... The gear is constantly evolving, so, let's keep up with this trend! Be safe!

Same here never happened me before and last couple of weeks twice. Once at 8.3 meters, in shallow water. I was so lucky not to brake anything. Thought afterwards even about quitting kitesurfing because of the shock when it happened. Never want to experience that again… Still in doubt now, so many questions.

Happend to me within the first month of my kite journey, good thing o started already attaching my leash in a semi-suicide mode which i recommend to anyone. Second thing that helped was to never use the chicken stick and always expecting the loop to unhook.
