As a taekwondo 5th degree black belt and have trained with olympic taekwondo champions here in the US, sparring lower ranks is not an issue. What the issue is both the teacher and also the black belt sparring partner. First of all as a black belt you dont need anyone to tell you that you should be soft or hard in sparring, its automatic if the person is lower than a red or brown belt then sparring should be light towards the lower belt. This lets me know that blackbelt has no self control, its obvious for a blackbelt to know if the person is unbalanced after the first initial kick and should be softer. That instructor or coach should be stripped off the rank and any certification attained for taekwondo regardless since you have a student that clearly felt that this was out of the ordinary sparring session. I would have also demoted the blackbelt one belt down until he can show that self control and awareness towards who they spar against. Also the explanation given on the video also shows that even the Philippines Olympic level has an issue internally in training. There should be no reason to have to remind any blackbelt of self control, if you have to do that then they should not be a black belt in the first place.

It's a huge mismatched. It should never have happened. I'm sure some students are equal or close to Jaymie's rank and experience and could be a fair opponent. If I were the judge, the penalty I would impose is for the instructor/assistant coach to fight against someone with a submachine gun. Let's see how he is going to react and I would love to know and see the outcome of the fight. Samson is a moron for trying to support the assistant coach. I would pay money to watch him fight the number one ranking UFC pound-for-pound champion Islam Machachev. Let's see what he looks like when he leaves the arena after 3 rounds if he could last that long. The assistant coach should be booted out of taekwondo, case filed and incarcerated for a very long time.
