I knew an old guy some years ago that was the Rochester Fuel Injection technician at the dealership he turned wrenches for. He had to go a GM school to be trained on it. He retired from turning wrenches around 2005 and had a nice little retirement business out of his home shop of fixing and restoring those old injection systems for customers. I guess his name got around in the classic corvette community and then got out nationally. He never had a shortage for work. But he worked at his own speed. I asked him if Rochester FI was as bad as people talk about. He said they worked perfectly fine, superior to carburetion, and is a masterpiece of engineering by the Rochester folks. But anything mechanical has to be tuned and settings need to be adjusted. What would happen is people would buy a second-hand fuelie corvette, try to get Joe Bob down at the corner gas station to adjust it for him so he wouldn't have to take it to the dealer. Joe Bob would go to fiddling around under the hood, make things even worse, and then just convince the owner to take the whole system off and replace with a simple carburetor. Consequently there were a lot of those shops in the late 60's and early 70's that had fuelie systems sitting on a back shelf somewhere. The old guy I knew, would go around and buy them and just collect them. He liked to use them for his own projects. (When I knew the guy, he had a 63 impala coupe with a custom 327 small block and a fuelie system.) The hardest part to find is the fuel injection specific distributor because it had a special flex driveshaft coming off of it to run the injection pump. So when carburetor conversions were done, the original distributor stayed with the car. I have no idea if that old guy is still alive. That was a long time ago. Sad that these old guys die and take their knowledge with them.

When I was stationed at Barksdale AFB in 1977 I was at a machine shop in Shreveport getting some head work done and there were 3 of those Rochester Corvette fuel injection set ups sitting on a shelf. The owner said they were worthless because a Holly 4 barrel carb would out perfume them and Vette owners would pull them off and give them away. Now they’re gold!

Absolutely! Why do so many people want to use their phone light? A modern flashlight is so much better than a phone light, plus you do not risk dropping or damaging an 800 dollar or more smart phone. It just seems foolish, and you just carry the flashlight in the tow vehicle’s glove box. Always there and not needed to be taken out till you need it.

"find" lool.. you think these guys go wondering on private property and "find" these cars? you still count on the tooth fairy? they are put up for sale and the winning bidder makes a vid on how they "found" this car purely for content.. read a little into the spec prior to filming and boom! content.. these vids are not made because they are genuine car guys, because they want to cash in on all they can get.. these beauties deserve genuine enthusiasts, these old motors have soul, history, character, not like most of the so called car guys of today's era.. patched up and sold, should be a law against it imo :P id buy it and love it, but i guess that's just me :P

Well, Dennis, you got one right out of my backyard! It was the Vette I remember seeing for years in Marietta Ga. off Kirkpatrick St. Drove by there almost every day of my life going to work. The overgrowth of weeds kept it from being discovered. The first time I saw it was probably early 80's. Thought it was long gone. Lesson learned to follow up on all leads no matter how old. Saw the mailbox address number and went by there today. That house and garage has been remodeled and cleaned up. Keep up the good work!

Great barn find for sure. I guess there was no time for the food extravaganza after loading up the Vette. Dennis was smart for another reason turning the Vette around on the trailer. For the weight distribution on the trailer. Trailers like the weight on the front for better tracking behind the tow vehicle. If you've ever tried towing a vehicle backwards on a trailer, you'd understand immediately what I'm talking about! The trailer wants to swing back n forth while at speed. Dangerous at best 😳
