Years age in Pennsylvania, I was off to the side of a dirt road trying to change a tire on a Blazer, I just did not have enough jack to do the job, there in the mud was an abandoned jack and tire iron, antique, but was able to use it under my jack to stabilize the foot of my jack enough to get it done. I tossed the jack in the back and cleaned it up only to find it was from a Model A Ford, some other driver who knows how long before was stuck in the exact place I was. I still have the tire iron...

I love how the dad asked the littlest boy to climb under the truck and pull the safety strap over the axle tube. That is how you teach responsibility, respect and work ethic. Glad to see see that you are going to restore it. Best wishes in your effort. Just out of high school in 1951, I went to work for Mannerud-Huntington Fuel Co in Eugene, Oregon. While drivers had to put up with old clunkers, mostly pre-war, two 1949 or 1950 Chevrolet 5-window trucks sat in the garage--one blue and the other green. Finally, management took them to Portland and had them fitted with custom made beds to haul sawdust and wood chips. My turn finally came to drive the green one to haul sawdust from a lumber mill to the Eugene Power and Electric and to Weyerhaeuser. I thought I had arrived. So every time I see one of those trucks I think back to that period just before entering the army. Wayne Warner, Springfield, MO.

That brought back a lot of memories of old cars. I was born in 51. We had a family friend who always drove older vehicles. I remember my parents telling me they were coming over to show us their new car. I was probably 5 or 6 and their new car was a 1951 chevy. The engine compartment, the crank hole, everything in it looked just like your "new" truck. I'm glad you want to keep it original, I love looking at old equipment and look at the technology they used to make things happen. I'll be watching!

I hope to be able to give him a ride next spring. You've discovered as well as I have, it's HARD to convince many 'old timers' to let go of family heirlooms. Wow what a find. And close to home. I live in Mexico, MO. Wish I could find something like that. My first vehicle was 1950 3100. I was 14 years old and hauled hay every summer. It was a Friday and just got paid for the week. Had a $125 in my pocket. Went by the filling station (Phillips 66) that an old man ran and sold old cars and trucks on the side. It was 3 blocks from my house, gave him $50 for it after some negotiations and drove it home. Mom and Dad wasn't to happy with me, but back then it was not big deal. Dad work at the Post Office. So I got a gallon of Mail box blue, Dad and I painted the truck with a brush, smooth out pretty good for a brush Mail Box Blue paint job. Glad to see you are keeping it stock. Bought some old memories back watching your video. Thanks for posting it.

LOL !!! Classic !!! "Are there trucks in all these other garages"??? I see I have seen this before but it's even more exciting watching it the second time. Sure would love to have this experience!! My son is another "gear head" so I don't think anything I leave behind will ever become one of these!! A big "congrat's" and good luck. I've seen some of your follow up videos and love what you have done with the truck. Hope you son is enjoying it too!!

Wonderful Video. The look in your boys face after wrapping that strap over the frame is priceless. I learned to drive in my dad's 48 Chevy pickup which is long gone. Thanks for the "revisit" to my youth......
