Hello 👋 and greetings fellow Rock Hound 👉 I have a claim in Cripple Creek (Sylvanite) and of course the pyrites/quartz/iron ore. Up here we just look for the purple fluorides 👍 I'm 5 years into the learning curve. And finally found a process that works for me 👍 Roasting concentrates, and then Nitric Acid to get my Au/Ag values. There's very little free mill gold up here. Most of the gold is married to the pyrites in sub-microscopic particles. So using Lead as a collector metal. And instead of the acceptable method of removing lead from gold - I boil the lead/gold button in lab grade Nitric. Leaving only the Silver in solution to be reconstituted later. And then smelting the brown caramel powder into near pure bullion 😁🤎 I also use Potassium Nitrate with my Borax in the initial smelt. So 👉 if you're looking for some good concentrates I buckets of this stuff 😁

Sounds fascinating Matthew! You must have your chemistry in check to process ore in that manner. I have not done much work with tellurides but would like to someday. Cheers!

The free milling gold that was mined before the boom of fluoride/sulfide gold mining at Cripple Creek, was flour gold that just flushed down the steep grade of Cripple Creek with only depositing in hardened black sands that weld onto the granite in a few locations along Cripple Creek. You have to be a professional dowser to locate the few places that have the hardened black sand layers that have to be picked off the granite surfaces. For a couple of months in 2015 when I was camping while prospecting Colorado with spending a couple of months picking and hand sluicing the 18 inch layer of black sands with everybody constantly stopping and saying nobody has ever located placer gold along Cripple Creek, and that is when I showed them one of my extremely heavy black sands 5 lbs coffee cans with giving them my loop eye glass. Once the excitement of seeing the gold is still fresh I would take them over to the creek for showing them the extremely hard work required for picking off the encrusted black sands layer where they all agreed with me that this is for love of mining rare gold deposits, instead of love of gathering the most gold possible for making the most money possible. There are so many fluorite gold veins and ore shoots deposited at Cripple Creek that dowsing is a must do for knowing how and where the gold is deposited inside and outside of the mines. The gold grade varies so much at Cripple Creek that dowsing with the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod using physics will help decipher everything gold related to your mining claims. For learning the physics involved and how to build your own dowsing rod for practicing the books dowsing lessons to become a professional dowser you need to read the book, The Art of Dowsing - Separating Science from Superstition. I hope this has helped and have a safe, healthy, good day.

@Azazel&HMC_STUDIOS I'm not that great at chemistry ⚗️ it's more like necessity - became the mother of my invention 👊 I built my own low gravity separator to deal with the micro-gold. And then I got in the books on how to process telluride materials. That led to the use of Nitric, & eventually the use of collector metals ( Via - Jeff Williams 👍 ) So this is a new process for me - but very successful !

@Azazel&HMC_STUDIOS I just watched it 👉 Thank You Azazel - but a bit above me. I understand what he's doing. But like most things involving precious metals, I get distracted 🤫 But thank you ! Knowledge is Power 👊 and my brain appreciates your contribution 👍🧠

This comment is awesome. I hike often around victor and found some nice samples in the vindicator valley. Of course all thats owned by CCV now but what the heck. Glad to hear you have you own claim up there since they seem to own everything in sight. Best wishes and goodluck!

That’s a long ways to lift or to the surface! I’ve wore out 10 of them Goldbugs. Good machines extremely tough! Like the old transistor radios can’t hardly kill them ! Gotta wash them in soap and water every once in a while then the work good as new! Using the best headphones you can get impossible to operate without headphones unless you’re looking for nails.
