MiG actually tried to pitch MiG-29 and 35 to China. But the reason why China didn't bat an eye have to do a very similar reason as why India didn't take the MiG-35... Back in the 70s' China wanted MiG-21, which at the time is a very advanced jet. However, after getting the production license (technology transfer), the blueprints Chinese received didn't match with the knock-down kits they received. And it's also the time where Shino (Chinese) - Soviet relation soured with some help from the U.S. So, the Chinese resulted intercepting MiG-21s destinated to Vietnam near Chinese border to take apart and study them. So, you can say MiG helped China to kick start their aviation industry, pretty much like how American B-29 and C-47 kick started Soviet Bomber/transport industry.

being MIG'S air frames are historically much smaller than Sukoi's airframes, they have historically been used for defensive missions (m-35) do to their shorter ranges, so they (mig) may continue to design aircrafts with the same missions this for the next generation(s). But being that all major nations have multiple aircrafts in their invatories I doubt MIG is going anywhere... If I was Russia I would use all the different historic companies (names) of their aviation industry to form different teams within this unified aviation department/corperation, so any team who makes the best product could get a contract! You may have the companies make what they always made historically with members who can help them from other teams coming into help (especielly once they have won a tender) to finish a job to the best of its abilities... P.S. with all teh experience MIG has had with interceptors and India having a far smaller navy that Chinas and having far less offensive aircrafts (aircraft carriers - destroyers - nuclear submarines) they should try to work with the Indians on a modern interceptor wit simular dimensions (if not larger) than the J-30, and maybe an aircraft siumlar to the Tu-22 with even greater range and built to destroy aircraft carrier groups...

I'm not sure if this assessment over major players is correct. UK,Germany,Italy are going toward the eurofighter, all US branches are looking to standardise the F-35. Smaller European nations generally use either the F-16 or F-18 while Sweden uses the gripen and the rest are looking to go for the F-35. The ones using multiple fighters seem to be China and Russia. The US still places orders for super hornets and such, but this at least to me seems like a consequence of the legacy products, cost and doctrine rather than a desire to have a logistically complex air force. Of course like it was mentioned doctrine in Russia isn't the same so its still possible that they will continue MiG designs. I don't see them doing it for cost, because despite the rugged and cheap look, to my knowledge the MiG isn't cheap at all. When it was evaluated for order in Finland it was ultimately seen as the least capable and the most costly option from Rafale, F-16, F-18 and the gripen.

This finally led to the frantic search for a replacement of the MiG-29Ks. The jets finally shortlisted were the FA-18 Super Hornets and the Rafale M. The Rafale M is said to have won that contract owing to commonality to the air force's Rafale jets amongst other considerations.

That "beauty" isn't worth *shit* as far as their intended purpose goes, though... I do agree they look great, but knowing the fact that they are useless against anything above un-supported infantry without MANPADS, kills the vibe for me.

One little problem - it's not a Russian design. Both Su-27 and Mig-29 based on stolen American jet prototype, that's why they so similar in look.

@igorvasin6960 Жыл бұрын
you are sure ? So far, the US Air Force even prohibits joint exercises against Russian-made aircraft, because US aircraft lost in all the exercises. You probably didn’t hear how an Italian pilot flying an F-35 collided with a Su-35 over the Baltic Sea? so the F-35 pilot lost and he told the press that he cried a lot because the Su-35 played with him, simulating an attack, but he could not do anything! and his F-35 was constantly reloading, could not escape and lost the Su-35 from the radar!
@markfischer3626 Жыл бұрын
@igorvasin6960 I don't know about this incident. In an engagement in combat the F35 will see the 4th generation SU35 long before the SU sees him. First look, first shot, first kill. The F35 is designed for Beyond Visual Range combat using AIM 120 missiles. In close combat the F35 has sparrow heat seeking missiles and a 20 mm 500 round 100 round per second canon. The SU 35 does not have the ability to establish a radar lock on F35 except at certain very close distance. The Italian pilot was probably warned not to create an international incidet. American stealth planes to fly radar reflectors to disguise theirvRCS

Well, I am not really hopeful for the MiG PAK DF program. They say it would be interceptor capable of Mach 4. I would be so happy to see it, maybe MiG still have it in them since they modernised a lot of MiG-31. Like 150 or something since 2008. I hope they got it. Mig-31 2.0 will be total spectacle of power.

"They say it would be interceptor capable of Mach 4" russian propaganda fueled by pure vodka. nobody is building such a fighter, least of all russia. They can't even keep their obsolete migs/Sukhois flying, and their Mig-31 keeps crashing. The Su-57 is still AWOL from combat, the Su-75 is still a plywood mockup.
@ashrithrao06 Жыл бұрын
The MiG-41, yeah. But mach 4 for what? Today’s fighter jet demands are stealth, air superiority, EW suite and especially BVR warfare. Speed was a factor many decades ago. I don’t understand why they are developing a Mach 4 fighter.
@atanasvasilev3228 Жыл бұрын
@@ashrithrao06 Because its beautiful! Sr-71 remains hard to destroy to this date and it goes 3,2 mach. Interceptor to defend the vast Russian lands must be swift as hell. Many many reasons!

@@atanasvasilev3228 Yeah, Soviets needed MiG-25&31 to intercept American spy planes. But in today’s era the MiG-41 will have likely less chances to perform interception role at great speed. Viewing Russia’s economy, the political leadership will be least interested in the fighter as modern Russia needs Air Superiority and Stealth Aircrafts to counter F-35 & F-22.

@@atanasvasilev3228 Have you heard of Indian Air Force’s MiG-25R sonic boom over Pakistan? This fighter was kept in underground bases and Indians got to know only about them after their retirement. The MiG-25 was a good aircraft. It created panic in Americans which led to development of F-15 which is one of the best till date to counter the MiG-25.

3:09 the guy at the right side was Valery Menitskiy who died in 2006 in cancer. He was the chief test pilot of the OKB MiG in the mid 80's. The MiG-29M the izdeliye 9.15 was a very capable design, but it falled in the economical hole what Afganistan, Chernobyl, the bad soviet economy, the Buran program and other expensive things hit. And last but not least, the eternal race between the MiG and the Sukhoi for the lower and lower state support and orders also sealed the MiG's fate in the late 1993. In 1993 December, actually ALL MiG-reated programs were cancelled and the member of the russian state committe of the MoD was the chief designer Mikhail Simonov from the Sukhoi. By the way, the MiG-29K was smaller than the Su-27K (Su-33), but its range was not shorter at all! Because the huge and heavy Su-27K had/has no true capability to take off from the Kuznetsov deck with full fuel or full weapon load. The mighty Su-33 is only able to take of with the very moderate less-than-2tons of weapons and not more than 5 tons of fuel. Fun fact: the MiG-29K (both of the oroginal 9.31 and the recent 9.41/9.47) was/is able to exeed both of the fuel and weapon loadout of the way bigger Su-33, but with smaller airframe and fuel consumption. Simply just because the better fuel/size/weight fraction and ratio.

Some tips for future video production on this channel that could be viral enough: TSR 2 - UK's strike recon heavy jet fighter that supposedly should sustain Mach 2.0 for over 90% of 1000 mile distance with 2000lb of internal bomb load (flying tests canceled before testing that) from times when Europe was still on top of jet engine technology using engines later re-purposed in Concorde, the possibility of improved video visibility with plenty of angry Englishman rants in the comment section... Ryan XV-5 Vertifan - one of the fastest search & rescue VTOL jetfighters reaching the flying prototype stage whose propulsion design is similar to an F-35 shaft-powered lift fan but using hot gases redirected from jet engines to power 3 fans instead... Convair Model 200 - the original VTOL supersonic jet paper design with 2 lift engines and an engine nozzle that "inspired" Soviet Yak 41/141 which likely will anger plenty of Russians who believe that the F-35 is just a copy of Yakolev's idea which in configuration with lift engines the US deemed not worthy pursuing further as Europeans testing lift engines did before. Yet another video with the added value of an active comment section for improved video visibility... T-55AD (Drozd) - Soviet Navy hi-tech 1978 T-55 model from the last days of Soviet tank technology dominance designed to enhance the combat value of amphibious troops while staying within limitations of Soviet landing ships that were equipped with laser-guided missiles for added long-range lethality and active radar-controlled hard kill ballistic protection against threats from the frontal arc, whatever they are slow missiles or slower artillery shells flying at favorable angles. Considering that at the time the US was riding mostly not very good M60 and few M103 heavy tanks, while Europe was still mainly depending on Leopard 1, Centurion with 105mm gun, and older Patton tanks, this was a surprisingly effective solution with full NBC protection for its weight... Future Combat Systems - canceled early 2000 US megaproject for digitalization and hybridization of the US Army fast response units ranging from infantry to flying unmanned vehicles that in his sheer scope and total cost was overshadowed only by the F-35 program. Some parts from its vehicle fleet like the XM360 composite smoothbore gun will likely see their future in the next Abrams tank variant while the liquid propellant on the fast-firing Crusader tracked artillery system maybe later or never. There are still promo videos on the internet that despite being over 15 years old look more like sci-fi than what we have now, especially soldiers with color AR googles that just becoming standard on the newest jet fighters and helicopters... Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche - canceled (together with the whole FCS project) stealth recon light attack helicopter gunship with automatic target recognition system utilizing millimeter wave radar input compared against internal vehicle database, foldable hidden 20mm rotary cannon for 20mm DU cancer ammo and internal bays for its missiles with optional rocket pods, this was and perhaps still is the best light attack helicopter that ever flown but was no longer deemed essential when future conflicts did not expect involvement of Soviet/Russian mechanized units... T-64 T-Rex - recent Ukrainian T-14 on the budget upgrade project utilizing existing T-64 hulls, or how to make Ukrainian tank design that entered service in the early sixties (thus the name T-64) viable on the modern battlefield by placing all 3 crewmembers in front, bottom of the turret repurpose for munition and make unmanned turret as small as possible to add armor for crew compartment. Not a bad idea that was also tested on a modified Abrams prototype and many other tanks mostly in times before unmanned turret was really viable but similarly to the Israelis which upgraded everything they had because that's what they got, even Ukraine has likely more incentive to make most from what they have instead of throwing money on less value for money efficient option of choosing entirely new systems requiring new infrastructure to support it. According to questionable sources cited on Wiki, this thing was actually tested in the real world but did not progress into service service-ready solution. While sentiment for Ukraine is on the decline, there is still a lot of interest in their stuff especially as it can serve as a model for nations around the world to make the most from their old MBTs, a steady supply of Russian trolls that will come to make fun of this project because Russian already fielding few prototypes of T-14 will provide necessary visibility for the video... I wish this channel luck, what I think could further improve views would be more technical details about various unique solutions that are often missing in your videos which due to the pace at which videos are being produced can hardly done differently as you have no time to read a book on each tech presented but perhaps teaming up with some military tech historian at the exchange of promoting his channel in your videos could further position you in the forefront in this niche subject that is so far not especially heavily populated in combination with this level of 3D graphics...

Careful, your ignorance is showing... Russian military failures in recent history have been almost entirely due to human factors, not poorly-designed equipment. The capability of the equipment itself, when operated by competent crews and directed by competent commanders, is fine. The amount of modern NATO armor lost in the Ukrainian offensive further illustrates that point: all of this equipment is only as capable as the people using it, and all is equally capable of being defeated by a competent opponent.

But during the war in Kosovo and Iraq, there were multiple occasions where the MiGs weren’t spotted until they were within firing range. A Flanker could never get that close without being detected first. Has absolutely massive radar cross section
