Founding Floriani with director Giorgio Navarini

(This episode was filmed in August, 2023) On Pentecost of 2023, the Gregorian Chant Academy officially merged with Floriani Sacred Music, founded by my old friend, Giorgio Navarini. Floriani is a [now] 5 man sacred music ensemble dedicated to the revival of authentic sacred music in the Catholic Church and is also a 501c-3 non-profit. In this episode, filmed in August of 2023, I sit down with Giorgio to learn more about him and the founding of Floriani.

It's wonderful to see two of my favorite sacred music people come together! I've followed both Gregorian Chant Academy and Floriani for a couple of years now, and your content has really helped me in my current directorial positions as well as my own enrichment. I pray that God will continue to bless all your endeavors in the new year! It also seems we have a few secondary connections: 2 of my sisters and several close friends were attending TAC at the time of the Thomas Fire, and my family has been lifelong friends with Fr. Sebastian and his brother's family! The Catholic world is a small world indeed!

It’s always encouraging to see efforts being made to bring sacred music back to the Church. From one educator to another….words matter, and pronouncing words correctly matters, especially as we try to elevate. “Gig” may not be the most noble of terms to use when referring to singing for liturgies. “Mozart” has a hard “t” sound, like the word “pizza”. Keep up the good work, guys.
