Hérbin Violette Pensée - Purple ink was the standard ink used in French schools, because the dye in it (methylene violet/gentian violet) was the cheapest dye of all. Schools bought it in powdered form, and the teachers would pour it into a jug of water, mix it, and pour it into the inkwells in the desks. The purple dye has anti-bacterial properties, and it's also used to prevent thrush (a bacterial infection) in babies and nursing mothers.

I found some mica powder that is 1-5 micron in size. If it fits through an airbrush, it should be safe in a fountain pen. 10-60 micron particulate or pigment fits nicely through silkscreen & airbrushes... My point is I purchased 1-5 micron sized mica pigments which are neon colors with a matte finish a few months back & safe enough for makeup or even to decorate cakes & such. All the mica I purchase is advertised as safe.The neon colors do interesting things to my ink. I need to learn a lot more about the chemistry of ink. I don’t know anything. Nano sized particles, for real? That is the measurement smaller than the micron. I have a chart somewhere. That turquoise ink must be very expensive. It sounds like the turquoise was ground in a lab. I wonder what the nano size of the particle is. Where can I purchase some? I would love to find nano sized pigment. It must exist, I never thought to look. When I found 1-5 micron in size I celebrated. There is a synthetic mica which is really nice, but I’ve never seen it smaller than 10-60 micron in size. I don’t know if it was my imagination, but the synthetic mica seemed to work better with the water based inks I tried. I have matte, semi-glitter, pearlized & full-on glitter micas. I also purchased some special effect micas which are affected by different things in the environment. I haven’t played with them yet. I do all of this because it is my idea of fun... Your video of unusual inks was incredible. I loved it! I am trying to find the perfect harmony of function & beauty for fountain pens in ink form. I made some gorgeous colors.These beautiful colors occurred when I spilled some ink vials & the ink mixed together, lol... Oh & Noodler’s “Rome is Burning” is a greenish ink which turns a pinkish color when water hits it. I read about it. I didn’t purchase it because it annoyed me that it didn’t turn back when dry. It seemed like the ink dude(Nathan)had an ink dream, thought it was a cool idea, but that was it. It has no logic at all, which bothers me. I like beauty & logic. My poor brain. I don’t watch ink videos enough. I should. You seem like one of the best in the industry for uniqueness & artistry.... I saw a video of yours where you showed a kind of vellum like not quite evenly black paper... It was the same video with that poor ugly box. You know, the stationery show you went to for which you needed tickets to get in. That paper is a must-have in my world... I also happily found a vendor in HongKong which carries Tono & Lims ink for a semi reasonable price. There is no one in the states & the one company on eBay advertised what I thought was a price for a set. It was per bottle + shipping. I assume for the price, the ink is hand-delivered & the delivery person will then prepare a gourmet meal. Sorry for too many words. I was very excited by your video. I’ll need to rewatch & take notes...
@InkyRocks4 жыл бұрын
hahaha! Thank you for your enthusiasm! I don't know the size of the nanoparticles in the turquoise ink, I just talked to the lady that makes the ink and runs the company. I've had other people comment on my vocal fry and I finally had to look it up--I didn't know it was a thing. It looks like it is perceived as a negative thing in women, but I'm OK with that. Flying jets in the 80's was considered a negative thing for women too hahaha! Thank you for your lovely compliment--it means a lot from someone with such a beautiful voice (I listened to a couple of your covers!)

@@InkyRocks i was wondering if it would effect ink flow.. its easy enough to check sg. One would have to decide which scale to use.. possibly the one used for battery acid or sucrose. Just an idea. I think its also used to identify mineral suspension.
@InkyRocks4 жыл бұрын
@@wendyholiday2021 I think the acid one might be the mineral one right? I know it is caustic and most people look it up instead of measuring it (I guess unless you are looking at an unidentified material). I would suppose it would affect flow but probably not independently as surface tension and viscosity would also play a part. I tried to tease that apart about 6 months ago, but no matter what all the charts say (in the Japanese ink magazines) my results didn't correlate with theirs. A lot of it was because of descriptive language (what really is wet/dry to each person?)
@wendyholiday20214 жыл бұрын
@@InkyRocks excellent point. You need a control. Thought it would be cool if you added a hydrometer to the video for fun since no one else does it. Even if its not accurate it would be your own scale. Just making more works for you. Blessings and Merry Christmas.
