The guys in the band were big fans of The Cars......the opening drum beat & guitar riff are a nod to them. Another nod is the bus stop kid with the black hair and sunglasses; a Rick Ocasek reference (RIP Rick.) The exiting the pool/bathroom sequence is virtually a frame-for-frame recreation of Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Rachel Hunter, Phoebe Cates......decisions, decisions......

@j0hnc004 жыл бұрын
The song is just about the delusional fantasy we've all had as little boys about some adult woman (it's in the same boat as having comic book superpowers). The lines expose how hilariously delusional we'd be: "I'm not the little boy that I used the be, since your dad walked out your mom could use a guy like me" 😂😂😂 PEEK DELUSIONAL And "I know it might be wrong but I'm in love with Stacy's mom" 😂😂😂 despite being dumb we were at least self aware of how stupid the fantasy was.

I know this from small clips in shows/movies from that time 03/04 but I was 19/20 and not really listening to current radio or movies at that time but 60s-80s also had moved in with a boyfriend for that year and a half rough time but I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't gone through all that and found my faith... This band has another song not as popular but it was called "All kinds of time"and I heard it at least 8 years after this by Ed watching a show from this timethat was how it was with me I will wait until something wasn't really popular anymore and then go back and give it a shot I think I found that songyou're watching the OC which was actually an accident because I have been watching you and I know that you want to know which is closer to my era In in bt the two but I said it was on cable and they came on right after each other and I saw the pilot was I kept watching and then I heard some songs and I found them for cds to drive to the college so 5-7 years later. Thanks for the reminder of those times through the band takes me back to colege if I didn't know now what I didn't know then but that's why it only happens once I guess. I don't have kids but if I had in my earlier years considering everyone thinks I'm 10-15 yrs younger by looking lol this actualy reminds me of my mom when I was a teen or even now my sister who has a 13 going on 14 yr old and when he brings friends home too funny.

this is their big hit. but they are actually a much bigger band than this song would suggest. They are one of the best bands from that period in terms of songrwiting. Every song tells a really well written story and they are really smart with their pop hooks. Totally impressed by FOW and surprised that they weren't one of the biggest bands of the time.

I think when they say women mature faster they mean psychological/social moral maturity. A young man's puberty fantasies aren't considered mature in the adult moral mentality sense. Yet then again who ever said the sexuality of boys/men is something to be totally "matured" out of.

I won't apologize for the following comment. This video was seriously offensive. An adult female seducing a teenage boy. When the video was made during the 80s, the issue of pedophilia wasn't a serious media conversation. I'm a liberal and open-minded thinker; and my artistic interests range from the sublime to the absurd. I also believe the freedom of speech must be preserved. But, consider that the human race must evolve in our collective thinking; or...what is cloaked in the dark, will stay in the dark.
@shoogerkane4 жыл бұрын
this video was made in the early 2000s. though it is quite suggestive, only a prude like you would jump to the conclusion that that Stacy's mom was actually trying to seduce the boy. its simply a video playing up the boy's fantasy. that's it.
@lynnarthur_stillkickin20244 жыл бұрын
@@shoogerkane First of all...I believe that adult sexuality is appropriate in videos and film. And if you watched film, videos, and commercials produced outside of the US, you'd see how prudish American media is. Further...if you knew me, my interest in adult media content would shock you. The music video portrayed a teenage boy with sexual fantasies. Not shocking at all. But the editing was clearly cut to suggest seduction on the mother's part. If the mother's target was an adult male of female...I wouldn't have an issue with the video. But the director's intention was to suggest the girl's mother reacting to the interest of her teenage friend. No matter what decade the video is from... pedophilia is never appropriate.
