Absolutely amazing video. You're the man. Keep doing what you are doing because at some point in time age eventually becomes your enemy and everything becomes harder regardless of what your mind tells you. Young guys like you have all of the advantages that we never had such as gps, smart phones, lightweight gear and decent dehydrated food. What we did have back then was privacy. You hardly saw anyone anywhere you went in the Uintas. Did you know that the Utah catch and release grayling record of 19 1/2" was caught in Ledge Lake in 2018. I went to Dead Horse Lake over 50 years ago. It was a lousy fishing lake then with only a few scrawny cutts. However, Ejod has a natural reproducing cutthroat population that can reach 17" and thick. I saw some photos on the internet (which have since been removed) about 5 years ago and the fish were still big at Ejod. Back then you could drive a horrible road all the way to Buck Pasture. There were no forest service service signs and no cairns or tree markers to follow. We just went down and followed the stream for a little while and tried to find the trail. We couldn't find one so we headed uphill and low and behold we found an old road that went all the way to the primitive area where you had to cross the river on a long large dead tree. Did you find and follow this old road down or have they made a trail that avoids the old road?

Thanks and Wow. All that privacy and solitude would be worth the extra weight and risks back then I imagine and even now at times. I've never thought about such a trade-off between the generations. I will definitely make the most of what I have left with my younger years. I seriously wanted to go fish Ejod, because I knew there'd be good fish there too, but Dead Horse was so active and more convenient being closer to where I settled in. I have vowed to myself to fish Ejod as a priority whenever I return there again. And I did not note any old road until passing by the wilderness sign. There trail crosses through the pasture but then rides up on the edge of the slope for a little while and I imagine any old rancher road would have been closer to the creek down in the low meadow.

Great trip. I did watch it all the way through. Great stuff throughout. You had some amazing reflections on some of those lakes too. Beautiful. Great of you too pick up after all those litter bugs in the backcountry. I can't believe how interested and inconsiderate some people are. You went on and of trail in areas I probably would not have in a solo venture. Glad you decided on the safer route the last day. That last day ended up being aggressive on the mileage. However, "the little engine that could" made it! "I think I can...." 😂. Great video. 👍

I hydrated with a Nuun tablet in my water that day with lunch and I think it really helped me feel good finishing out those final miles. Yes...it's unfortunate finding litter anywhere, but especially so far into backcountry wilderness areas like that. Knowing about a guy who did fall to his death off that pass between Dead Horse and Allsop, and then thinking of the guy who just died from a fall near Kings Peak this last week, are what keeps me opting for safer and more sure ways down and out when solo like that. Thanks for watching!

Will! You are an animal! Day two climbing over both passes with no official/unofficial route! Fantastic work! You really do fine camera work coupled with your stories and narration. This might be my favorite adventure of yours yet. What was your favorite section of this trip?

Hard to pick a favorite on this one. Each basin, each camp, was awesome. I can tell you what wasn't my favorite...descending the eroded trail down to Dead Horse Lake.

Very nice route. Nothing like off-trail passes to make it all worth it! Good job!

Thanks. It was a great trip. Almost turned back at the top of Dead Horse Pass because of how sketchy it felt descending the first switch back on that north face. Glad I didn't though.

WasatchWill yeah as you know it’s completely different going up. Pretty sure I would be freaked out coming down. Kind of need micro spikes 🤔

Great video Will. Just watched this one for the first time and love all the spots you visited! What kind of puffy is that you’re wearing during this trip?

Thanks! That's a Mammut Broad Peak down jacket. Bought it used but was virtually new when I got it. It works great.
