Thank you Father. I cry so many tears from your words and I am so amazed at the timing of finding your video. So many things are happening all at once throughout the world and also within myself, at the moment, that life seems so overwhelming. I feel it so true that if we only knew the simplicity of God's immense love this world would, in unison, shake our heads at how complicated we make things. God has blessed you with great understanding and in this has blessed all that hear him through you. I pray that you will enjoy eternity with many souls that you have helped! God's continued grace be with you! JMJ

I came straight to hear this. What a comfort and blessing. I made a general Confession two years ago this month. It was a good thing but I have a scrupulous nature and thought I’d put my past behind me. I can honestly say I spent weeks preparing. Another priest started hearing my confession and said well if it was mortal sin and you left it our Confess it. So for two years I was going back and reliving and remembering more and more. It was a living hell. I kept thinking of Mary Magdalene being told yes your sins are many but you are forgiven go and sin no more. Yes Father I desire to break the habit and pray for deliverance. I have given up porn alcohol and sometimes it’s masturbation I lapse into. I hate it. Boy this message is giving me much hope. I invite Jesus daily to live in me!

I hear the teaching of St. Therese in this. Boundless confidence in the merciful love of our Lord Jesus Christ. St. Therese herself suffered greatly from terrible scrupulosity (as I have myself...every passing impure thought would generate great anxiety in me and almost have me despairing. Even though I knew this was dysfunctional it didn't matter. The fear of losing God was so great that I was crippled). By the grace of God, St. Therese found tremendous healing in approaching the Father in the spirit of a child, rather than as a convict awaiting his inevitable death sentence. I've always struggled trying to make sense of St. Paul's words in that passage. I didn't know if he was just talking about the inclination to sin/concupiscence/ the passions, or outright sins themselves. I agree though that a sin-soaked perspective of our Faith is unhealthy. Christ is the Redeemer. The Divine Physician who has come to heal. The Warrior King who has come to destroy death itself. And He is victorious! And yes, He loves us.

Yes! These are the things I was taught in Catholic school by nuns in the 50's and 60's. These were part of why I left the Church because I couldn't reconcile the loving God I was taught about with the vindictive God I was threatened with. Now I've come to understand about God's love and mercy (His justice). Beautiful backdrop, by the way.

Frances Bernard here. Thanks again in another video for helping me remember the call to remind people of the bible passage citation John 6:67 while repeating those words again to those who need to hear it. Another thing to give thanks for is the bible passage 1 Corinthians 11:30 too which is the good news for all people who have ever suffered from a mental breakdown and all people who have loved ones who have suffered from a mental breakdown. In that teaching he clearly showed us the way to achieve healthier communities in his love.

That you, I also cried while I watched you!! I was raised in the middle 1950's to 1962 in St. Nicholas parish in Aurora ILLINOIS and hell fire and damnnation was preached !! Also that we were not to have anything to do with protestants and that the Jews killed jesus christ !! ( jesus died for everyone; & all our sins that caused jesus pain in his passon& death)!! Even on you tube there are so many posts about saints saw hell!! It causes fear !! Thank you father, thank you father for your teaching!!! I am 70 years old and live in an assisted living facility!! Confession is available every now and then when a priest showes up!!! I was taught in my childhood I was going to hell because I am left handed!! I was taught that if you sin ,even a small sin ,God would not hear our prayers, until we went to confession!!! Thank you father for your teachings!!! You have brought me so much comfort!! And yes, when I happen to sin I immediately know it and turn from it completely, immediately!!! Mostly because I don't want to hurt jesus and God our heavenly father & the holy spirit anymore, & secondly because I don't want to go to hell!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you father for your beautiful truthful teaching on you tube!! May our heavenly father bless you; protect you , this I ask for you father in jesus mighty name, amen!!!

March 18th, 2024 Dear Fr Thady, I arrived here via your latest video of March 17th. You did the right thing to link it there. As you pointed out in the beginning, they never were errors in the teaching of the Church; on the contrary, the Church has always taught on "metanoia", changing within, but to be properly catechized one would have had to be followed closely and having interest in participating more actively in the Parish besides the Mass itself. The famous "Azione Cattolica" as I can remember from my youth. It's obvious that it's the faithful themselves who slowly have erroneously spread the notions of emphasizing Hell more than Salvation. Unfortunately they still do this today, especially on social media, and I remember, during the last years, when mentioning LOVE as the most important, some commenters would instinctively react and focus on HELL too. Polarizing everything has become more and more current nowadays, especially with all different theologies that people have been inculcated with, after the vogue of reading and interpreting the Scriptures by themselves, and by interacting with each other. The new fashion on the Net, during these past years, have been debates, rebuttals of debates, and propaganda of beliefs and historical points of view. Apologetics, became popular too, where everyone points out biblical errors of interpretation to each other, and through comments, even pitting one Bible verse against the other. And worst of all, the old heresies from ancient times have been resuscitated one by one, denying the divinity of Jesus, the Trinity and the Nicene Creed! Wisdom is bliss, and should always be pursued, in order to keep in mind what the main goal of doing all of this really should be: *Teaching the "Word of God", and not only "God in words"* . PAX CHRISTI 😇

Thank you. In my opinion those points seem to be an important cause for our Church losing influence. Becoming a better person by fearing sin or punishment had some effect (avoiding the word 'success') in a closed Catholic milieu, where belonging to the group was of great importance. Sometimes there was even success, when one found others motivated by love and learned by imitating their example. Without social pressure of the group guidance by fear seems to be futile. I think much of the controversy Pope Francis is faced with originates by people who were guided by fear and become disoriented by a Pope who no longer uses fear as a pastoral tool.

Father - thank you for sharing the love and mercy of God in your videos. By way of analogy it reminds me of the incident in Jesus' ministry when the friends brought the paralytic friend to Jesus for healing and lowered him through the roof because of the crowds. While they sought physical healing, Jesus had something much more wonderful in mind. Even without the confession of a single sin we see: Mark 2:5: When Jesus saw how strongly they believed that he would help, Jesus said to the sick man, “Son, your sins are forgiven!” May God continue to richly bless you! Frank Kohlmann The only reason why people go to Hell is for rejecting Jesus as our savior. We all have sinned and need a savior. The thief next to Jesus called on Jesus and was forgiven of all sins. And Jesus told him that this day that he would be in Paradise with Jesus forevermore Luke 23:34-44
4 жыл бұрын
@@seanrathmakedisciples1508 The good thief dying on the cross was an exception who of course became St. Dismas the Good Thief in realizing he was a sinner not like the bad thief who tested Jesus on the cross. The good thief was promised eternal life so the good thief could represent people that convert on their deathbed. As St. John said; If we say we do not sin then we deceive ourselves and truth is not in us.

@ thanks for your response. Yes both thieves were forgiven but only one of the thieves called on Jesus and received his free gift of forgiveness and salvation and eternal life. There is no such thing as a good thief. Both thieves were mocking Jesus Matthew 27:44. Luke 23:34-44. . Only one of the thieves repented and called on the Lord Jesus for salvation. Assuredly this day you will be with me in Paradise. This is the message of salvation. Repentance to Jesus from sin and deciding to follow Jesus forevermore. Acts 10:38. All blessings in Jesus name. @@wem-c9f do you agree with photographs to remind us of our loved ones? Statues preform exactly the same function. That's all they are. Reminders .. and no more, despite what you baby have been told to the contrary. Preserving dead popes and saints ..I think your probably mean relics. It's a tradition from the time when the early Catholic martyrs when killed in the arena, their fellow Catholics would preserve and collect their remains and as they died for Christ they were automatically in heaven where they can intercede for us. ....BUT no Catholic is OBLIGED to acknowledge relics. Its not a requirement of the faith. Sprinkling baptism grew out of the tradition of the church. There is no mandate that full immersion is the only form..but rather that water is used and in the name of the Trinity and additionally by a properly appointed minister. I know for a fact that Pope Francis lives in a two bedroomed apartment in the Vatican, takes no salary, even though he is entitled to do so and up until recently drove a Ford Focus as his personal transport. He is a head of state and the leader ( first among equal amongst his fellow bishops) of the world wide church. Founded by Christ and which has lasted 2,000 years as only Christ has the authority to found a church.

I have waited 60 years to hear a holy priest say these words. I attended a Catholic boarding school, run by Irish nuns who made us feel guilty for everything, we were scolded harshly even for joking and laughing. I always felt unworthy to receive holy Communion and seldom did. Same for my classmates. After graduating, I did not to to Church anymore. I returned after many years, when my son received first holy Communion.

The main thing to consider is there is Always hope to return to the Father as long as you live. I understand what Mr. DOYLE is saying that only God alone knows all the different aspects of each person whether or not the person knew what they were doing was a mortal sin. We cannot judge another person, only God has that ability. Once you die , it is over , then the judgment. There is an abundance of MERCY you can claim while you are alive.

Our Father in Heaven is Merciful.Prayer of St. Ambrose LORD Jesus Christ, I approach Thy banquet table in fear and trembling, for I am a sinner, and dare not rely on my own worth, but only on Thy goodness and mercy. I am defiled by my many sins in body and soul, and by my unguarded thoughts and words. Gracious God of majesty and awe, I seek Thy protection, I look for Thy healing. Poor troubled sinner that I am, I appeal to Thee, the fountain of all mercy. I cannot bear Thy judgment, but I trust in Thy salvation. Lord, I show my wounds to Thee and uncover my shame before Thee. I know my sins are many and great, and they fill me with fear, but I hope in Thy mercies, for they cannot be numbered.

From what I understand in the teachings of the Church, you have the right and duty to correct your brother with utmost charity but you do not have the right to condemn him. That right only belongs to a God. Therefore, we should understand that breaking any of the 10 Commandments is serious, the degree of gravity and guilt does depend on a person’s knowledge, understanding, and intent, and this is why we cannot judge because only God can read hearts. As Jesus tells us, we are always so quick to point out the splinter in our brother’s eye and fail to see the log in ours. However, we must not back down from stating the truth even if some don’t want to hear it. Today’s modern world works very hard to tell you that as long as it feels good, it’s ok. But if you quote the Bible to correct an error in this kind of thinking, then you are judgemental and a bigot. We must be humble, pick up our cross, yoke ourselves to our Lord’s yoke, and constantly give thanks that Almighty God has unfathomable mercy.

Father, I just re-watched this video, it popped up on my phone as I was scrolling through KZbin for something to help my troubled heart and mind. I watched this video years ago and found it profound but this time it came as an answer to my plea to God for help in exactly what you described. I very recently viewed a video by a Bishop and his interpretation of the exact scripture you talked about was not uplifting and hopeful but instead brought me down, especially when he said when we sin Jesus no longer hears our prayers. Yes, that is the phrase he used. I shut off his video and clicked on, not interested and clicked on, do not like it. I do not often ask Mary or the Saints or my Guardian Angel for intercessory prayer, I most often have gone to the Trinity. Since I do still sin and can't stop it on my own and just hear from the Bishop Jesus Christ won't hear my prayers because of the fact that I still sin...yikes, who can help me? I did reach out in petition to Mary and a few Saints and even my Guardian Angel. Let's end this very long comment with...your wonderful, video made years ago popped up and saved the day, preventing a "mental breakdown." Father, I have been following your ministry for quite some time. Thank you for your ministry to us poor sinners.

In grade school the nun (God bless all the wonderful women who dedicated their life to the service of the Lord, they excelled at teaching and laid a moral foundation for generations of children. We can see the disintegration of society since their numbers have abated). told us if we ate meat on Friday we committed a mortal sin and if we died before confession we would go to hell. Frightening for a child . Another time during the Sunday homily the priest said those who divorce and remarry will go to hell...I was about 8 or 9 years old and I was devastated as my mother fell into that category. The mercy of God Trump's the intellect of men.

Just to back up what you have said in truth if people could read (google if no bible) the parable of the Prodigal Son. (extreme amount of deep layers in this parable you'd have to write a dense book to explain ). Realize God is always ready with unfathomable mercy with open arms fot the return home of the prodigal son (repentant sinner) If you yourself are unforgiving in nature you will be decieved into thinking God cannot possibly forgive me completely, but he does cause you belong to him! A door to actually grasping and literally feeling his mercy is when you humble yourself and forgive that someone who has betrayed you. "When you come to the alter with a sacrifice and yet have grievance against another go back and set your grievance at nought with your adversary and then come and offer your own sacrifice" . Then you can come into the presence of God.

Thank u Father. I’m a cradle Catholic, I’ve lost many cousins to evangelical ministries. One is a lawyer who challenged me over my daily devotions praying The Holy Rosary. I defended myself. I have written u before dear father. I have good news, that my oldest son is no longer denying the love of God. He is no longer challenging my faith. He is more serene and loving and peaceful when we talk over phone. My youngest is steadily working and I continue to pray as St. Monica did for us all. We r in the United States. I am in Texas. We r Democratic advocates. We r Native Americans of Mexican descent. We seek social reform for equitable education, justice, medicine, housing and land. Every time I state our intentions, i feel emotional, testy, and compelled to PRAISE AND GLORIFY MY LORD AND MY GOD! So, i must end for now. GOD BLESS U FATHER! MERRY CHRISTMAS FATHER! ALL GLORY AND PRAISE TO MY LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. ALL HONOR AND PRAISE TO OUR HOLY MOTHER MARY!!! THANK YOU ST. JOSEPH FOR YOUR CONSTANT CARE AND VIGIL OVER THEM! MAY EVER-LOVING GOD HAVE MERCY ON MY SOUL AND TAKE ME TO LIVE WITH HIM ONE DAY TO PRAISE, WORSHIP, LOVE, HONOR, AND SERVE HIM FOREVER AND EVER! AMEN! MERRY CHRISTMAS. GOD BLESS US EVERY ONE!

When in doubt go to Confession. If you've done something and your not sure if it is a mortal sin or not, and in attendance at Mass before you can get to Confession, ho ahead and receive Communion. Abstain from Communion only if you are 100% sure you have committed a mortal sin. At least that's what I was taught.

Pity this guy doesn't read up on what is official traditional Catholic theology and how it is interpretated official Catholic apologists rather than what seems his own hearsay/interpretation of Catholic teaching. e.g. you can't earn your own salvation (true) but St. Paul tells us to work it out in fear and trembling (Catholic teaching). Mortal sin is something committed with the knowlege that it seriously wrong. It doesn't kill God's love for us but seriously pushes out a certain 'Life'/Grace' of God dwelling within us. If a person in this state refuses to repent and dies in this manner then by his own choice his soul will go to hell eternally. GOD DOESN'T FORCE US TO LOVE HIM AND GIVES US FREEDOM OF CHOICE TO CHOOSE TO BE WITH HIM OR NOT.That is Catholic teaching

Sorry Tony, wrong doctrine you've been doped and duped with. A true born again believer with a repentant heart has the gift of the Holy Ghost (from God) living within them. It's impossible for them to go to hell under any circumstances. Their eternal soul is adopted into sonship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Nothing can seperate them from the love of God. ( Romans 8 :33-39) A true believers sins were blotted out past, present and future by the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. " It is finished" said Jesus. Get out of that lying controlling evil Tony and walk in the light of Jesus.

Fr you did it for me. this talk of yours was my crown of jewels. i was one of those people deeply weighed under by the scars of fire and brimstone theology , - with excessive guilt. . When I was a child going to Mass one sat back in the pews quaking , - what the priest might unleash in his next sermon. Going to confession was a terrifying experience, trembling in the waiting line while listening to thr shouts and reproaches coming from the confession box. Literally waiting next to be devoured. it’s was all so wrong . St Faustina spell it out in her diary how damagin it is. “When a soul opens itself to Gods Mercy but instead is met with fury. from the confessor, .....” at 62 i still feel scarred to this day going to confession. Fr your video was wonderful but unfortunately for many. it’s closing the doors of the stable after the horse has bolted. For many like me it’s now . it’s very difficult to See or feel God as a LOVING FATHER because of the damage inflicted particularly in the formative years.

Hi Father, this vlog really resonated me with, who has problems forgiving myself for my own sins, when I should rejoice in Our Lord Jesus Christ. Confession is the way to remove Mortal Sin, but it doesn't stop God from loving me more or less. It's our job to be contrite for our sins, confess them, and Rejoice in Christ Jesus. Maybe it's because the Irish have an easier way to explain it :) God bless!

This priest's point might be that just because a person commits an act of grave matter against God, it may not be a mortal sin because of the lack of clear knowledge or full consent. Maybe that's what he means.if so, he is right. I think this especially comes up in the area of impure thoughts. While Jesus did say that to even look at a woman in list is to commit adultery with her in the heart, much of what many scrupulous people count as looking at a woman in lust is just the temptation to do that. The devil tries to make us too lax. If he fails in that he tries to make us to strict with ourselves. If you think you may have committed an impure thought but are not sure, if you aren't sure you gave it full consent of the will, mention it in Confession, explain the circumstances, and follow the priest's advice (go to a priest that you know is a good orthodox priest). Between the time of the incident and your Confession you may take Holy Communion or other sacraments. Abstain from Communion only if you are positive you have committed a mortal sin.
