MOST important tip: remain connected to the tree from the moment you leave the ground by wearing a full body fall arrest harness and tree tether strap.

This might sound dumb, but that tethers around the tree above the top half, yeah? And how does it attach to the tree?
@billjones7503 Жыл бұрын
Look into the belt that goes around the tree while climbing up and down the tree. It is called ( QSAFE ) if you get one you will not be sorry you did, they are slick.@@connorhart7597

tethering the top to the bottom has saved a me few times. i run tensioning straps from the top bar to the bottom platform closest to the tree and it really helps lock it down in addition to keeping them together during ascent and descent.

Good to combine a saddle as a safety harness, when using a climber. I just started doing so, very safe.

Solid advice about tying the platforms together. Had to wrap my legs around the tree and dangle off the top platform and work my way down. That was one of the worst and exhausting experiences ever.(i was sitting at 27ft)

That was my last hunt without tying them together. At least I wasn't above 20 ft.

That first climber on the market was the Baker. I used it many times. You connect your feet to it and bear hug the tree and climb.

Great tips but the best advice was left out, ALWAYS WEAR A SAFETY HARNESS AND STAY CONNECTED TO THE TREE.
@InformedOutdoors Жыл бұрын
I’ve included that in tons of videos but since it applies to all tree stands I didn’t include it. Probably should have anyway just to keep hammering it home.

I tried to adjust my bottom platform in the tree, dropped the cotter pin and the bottom platform fell to the ground (the cheap nylon webbing broke that connected it to the top) I wasn't wearing a harness at the time and ended up falling about 12 feet. Luckily I didn't get hurt but I've never climbed up a tree without a harness since. Terrifying lol

Glad you’re wearing your harness now!

Make climbers great again ha. I’ve tried a few different saddles. I just didn’t find them comfortable and didn’t like staring at a tree. To each their own. My Lone Wolf sit and climb is like 17lbs and packs flat. Too bad they aren’t made anymore.
