BLACK FRIDAY! WOO! Lots of things are happening at Miniac HQ so here's the big Black Friday post explaining it all: 1. Everything on my webstore is 20% off (even the new stuff). This will be the first time items like The Duchess and the digital course for The Duchess will be on sale since they came out. The same is true for the podcast merch! To get 20% off on teespring, you need to type the coupon code "TUP2020" in at checkout. 2. I have a new shirt and it's not black (for all 3 people that have asked for a nonblack shirt). It represents how your backlog is always trying to literally murder you. 3. The podcast has a new shirt and it's a glorious homage to tendies! 4. I have a PDF guide on how to paint The Duchess! This is great if you aren't sure if the digital course is for you, and you want a smaller investment. 5. International Shipping is cheaper on orders under 1lb! Store: miniac.co/ Podcast: teespring.com/stores/trapped-under-plastic

Just bought the pdf, and I have to say the production quality is top notch! Worth it for the first few pages of technique descriptions alone. I hope it sells well and you consider doing the occasional pdf guide for mini painting in the future.

Hang on, did you say that a static grass applicator is a crazy buy? Didn't you recently purchase a plastic cutter thingy? That you admitted you'll hardly use on your recent trapped under plastic? I picked up a small one for doing bases for around £20, I'm not sure what that is in dollars, but I doubt it's as much as you've spent on some of your toys.
@dannyeccles18944 жыл бұрын
The static applicator I have is the PECO SCENE PSG-3 Pro grass precision applicator. Cheap, and perfect for bases. I put a straightened out paper clip in the crocodile clip to help get the charge where you need it. Highly recommend if you can get it that side of the pond.

So true 😆 Yet also makes sense. In miniature, that real stuff just looks... odd, in that scale. But yeah I've taken white things, coated them black, and then worked my layers and brushing up until the final layer was... white again 😛

Extremely nice and usable, i like this series! One thing about the static grass: get an empty herb shaker from the kitchen, but look for one that has the big holes. Wash it well and fill it with the grass, and shake it on the base/terrain with glue already on it, from a height. On the way down many of the fibers will straighten up and end up standing. *Still* not as nice as an actual applicator but works better than just with hands. And for the tube city base, for us cheapskates, while you *can* get a lifetime supply of styrene on a plastics supplies place for the price of a small sheet on a hobby store, you can do this on the cheap with cereal box card, drinking straws and the bodies of q-tips.

Tube city seems pretty industrial to me. Are you looking for something else?
@Zer0Crow4 жыл бұрын
@@Miniac Yeah! Tube City's is great, and definitely something I'll use as reference. My original comment was more along the lines of thinking about something "within a hive city's production assembly line" or a factory: rusted grating and half-working machine parts or switchboards full of wires and pipes with an absurd amount of valves. Something along the lines of the new Dark Tide atmosphere of "in urban enemy territory" if that makes sense? Also: #paintthemrimsblack

Cobblestone idea. Cut little pieces of sprue roughly the size of cobblestone tiles but not too thin Put pieces in a rocktumbler and you end up with a ton of little natural looking tiles or stones or anything you want to smoothout. A rocktumbler can be a great way to recycle sprues.

So I may have forgotten to say this last night when I originally watched this video. I hope that your family, friends and you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Also, I loved the bases! The "sports, sports, sports!" base it pretty damn cool to me, for some odd reason. I agree that all base rims should always be painted, as well as 99.9% of the time black is the best color for this. However some times other colors are acceptable for the rim color, but it is wholly dependent on the color scheme of the miniature and basing and needs to work across a whole army.
