Growing up in the 80s and 90s, Japanese culture hit a spike in the US with video games and anime. I remember playing these beautiful RPG games, entering towns or villages that looked so perfect. Or watching animes of adventurers going from village to village, each just as beautiful as the last. Granted these were cartoons and 8-64 bit video game graphics, so you figure the perfection and clean look was just due to lack of detail and just making it as pretty as possible. Now I see this village and a few other videos and I realize those games and cartoons were simply basing those villages and towns after how they actually look in Japan.
