Nice to see blokes driving on the proper side of the road ;) Was thinking on how close Aussie roads resemble British roads, even the road sign colours and markings are the same.

Getting a turbo timer (adjustable to 5 minutes) fitted in a couple of weeks as we are moving to a very hot region. Starter getting exchanged as prevention as well. Alternator changed in 2019. At the moment I turn the AC off and wait until the EGTS get below 165-170, most times I only have to wait 1-2 minutes.

We had a 1KD Hilux come through recently With a turbo that had only lasted 8 months . Sucked through foreign matter causing catastrophic damage to internals . Pulled apart egr , manifold off cleaned everything , cleaned inlet ports Injectors sent away and bench tested All new gaskets and seals New filters New map filter New oil and coolant Everything cleaned shiny new !!! Fingers crossed she lasts this time

We use to change the turbos out on the Komatsu V12s at 6000 hrs. Coming up out of the pit fully laden the turbo temps were 630 degrees C.

Hot turbo cooks the oil volume in the turbo, if the engine hot and switched off. Over time makes the engine oil bad = bad

My 2010 Hilux (4-Speed single cab auto with loaded canopy) cruises on 100km at 1900 to 2000 rpm. Is it normal? I do not do any towing at all.

Anyones Thoughts on turbo cleaners ? I've used some before thinking as a maintenance additive and found it dose run a little better. Waste of money or not ?

Is this the type with the engine running? If so there is a school of thought that larger particles from the intake could smash/wear the turbine wheel edges. I bought intake cleaner, but I’m too scared to use it for this reason. Now what do I do with the Shxt? I guess if the intake is already clean, then to use an intake cleaner fit for purpose, like LiquiMoly that have a very long thin hard tube to slip into the space between the intake flex and hard induction pipe…BUT be careful that sprayer (“demister”) CAN come off, so either take it off (not sure if this is a good idea) or just push it on to be sure it won’t fall off when spraying, then push silicone flex over the thin tube. Not sure if all this is worth it, so every 150,000 do a full on EGR and intake clean. Hopefully with “the solution” (if you have been watching the videos you will know what I mean-as in 7mm;) it shouldn’t be too bad anyway. What do think about these spray jobs Anthony? Waste of time, or is there a valid case for it?
