Great vid, bout time, brought a V6 Prado in 2003, 17 years old and still going strong, only has 170000 on it, had a 90 series Prado before that. Changed the 17 year old fuel tank filler the other day on your advice, did not even know about it until I saw in on one of your videos, very hard and brittle with a crack, but not yet cracked all the way through, not bad for 17 years. Done alternator recently, fan belt and idlers last year, air con evaporator and tx valve, mechanic checked valve timing at 160000 needed no adjustment, original shocks and springs changed 2 years ago to Ironman with a 2 inch lift, CV boots fell apart 2 years ago, slight leak in power steering pump shaft, that’s the next project, window tint has developed some bubbles recently was installed through Toyota dealer when purchased and has a lifetime warranty for original owner. Took it to dealer last week and they are going to fix it, I nearly fell over, I thought no way would they cover it after 17 years. Anyway it has been a great vehicle and am planning to upgrade to the new 2021 model when it is available.

The one I looked today have 232k 2003 model overall condition good except some minor leaks on valve gasket and oil catch can...LC120 is pretty good build quality, I mean for 18 years old vehicle at 200k.But to be be honest we have already 2009 Auris parked in our garage for the last 8 years still runs great at 190k and excellent technical overall condition, the engine is bone dry no issues...Toyota is overall a good car and the prices for LC here in Switzerland does not drop like others do...acctually they are going up and I would not be surprised if I buy one used diesel or petrol it would even keep the market price in next 5 years if good condition.👍

My late 2003 petrol V6 Prado 120 series has 400000+ k’s on it, oil changed every 5,000ks. I removed the sump and oil pick up and it was as clean as you could get.

Hey mate I’ve been a light vehicle mechanic for 14 years mainly working on petrol stuff and own a petrol hilux . I’ve worked in different shops and never seen issues with the petrol V6 in general I’ve only seen issues with diesel stuff in particular .The petrols are bullet proof the V6 is like a Camry engine bullet proof . Cheap to service .
@bradleybell58093 жыл бұрын
@@johnelkhouri9950 yep, I got laughed at buying the petrol Prado. People rant on about diesels, but once you start playing with them and especially big wheels and tyres and now diesel is more expensive than petrol, the prado petrol is actually cheaper to maintain and run. More KW’s and just better driving for overtaking and hills etc. The diesels are torqued better down low yes, but for what I do which is off the beaten track and camping, not really towing, it’s fine. 427,000 on it now and the compression is still good and the engine is clean. I’ll keep going with it till it stops.

I enjoyed watching. I own 07 FJ Cruiser. I have noticed a bit of varnish around the oil filter outlet. Previous owner went about 10K miles between oil changes using a synthetic blend. I have switched to a high mileage full synthetic and will change ever 3 k. From now on

I love my 08 petrol prado. I only do 7-8kms per year with weekly short trips to and from work and tow a large boat to my local ramp most weekends with usually 6-7 people onboard. So for me petrol is a better choice as I don't get the the carbon build up problems associated with the diesel over constant short trips. Also, with 180 litre's of petrol I can wait for weeks until the the petrol price is at the bottom of the cycle. I agree with Anthony, 120 Prado's rule in diesel or petrol. Just make sure you buy the right one for your type of driving.
@Fourby4Diesel3 жыл бұрын
Diesel doesn’t get any carbon buildup From constant short trips it’s good that you’ve made the choice that’s better for you but I suggest you don’t fully understand the pros and cons and the differences and build ups the Petrol’s and Diesel’s house Petrol is the one that gums everything up in both of fuel tanks fuel system and Engine just keep on top of the oil changes use premium and run it regularly

how durable is the 1gr with the single vvti. I noticed that some brand new LC70 series in Mid East and Hilux petrol still use the single vvti engine. There must be some reasons that Toyota picks single vvti instead of the dual vvti.

@danieljohn5894 жыл бұрын
Great points, so good to see more of the petrol, they are increasing in popularity and many will continue to argue they are more reliable, although your right it's how you look after them and they are all good motors. Not so sure about D4D but each to their own. Just one thing.. . Diesel injectors v petrol spark plugs does not balance out in cost! 🤷Far cheaper and less labour intensive then D4D. What did you mean here? Servicing costs are far cheaper then diesel, even with 5k services which I religiously do. Spark plugs shouldn't take more then 30min, they are fairly straightforward on these motors with not much to move.

I followed everything you showed in this video. The one LC I was looking have 232k. Engine oil filler have some black oil rest but no water condesation. It also leaks oil on valve covers but nothing terrible, the oil catch cover has also some leaking still not that bad. Transfer case absolutely dry and and perfect condition, no oil between engine and transmission. All control arm bushes are like new. The first owner did underbody chasis protection and it is in excellent condition except at the front just under the radiator it has some rust which should be treated. Only thing that I have noticed is a chain rattle which gone after 2-3 seconds...the car was parked more then a month should it be an issue??? Overall the car looks great. All services by the book is being done.
